Enter in service mode and do an cartridge adjustment. Maybe the toner is not uniformly distributed in cartridge. Also you can search on internet for service manual, this may help you a lot.

If its giving blank copies there was a ploblem with the laser shutter on these. If so it needs to be taken to authorized Canon repair facility for repair. Maybe still under warranty.

Could be the drum or the fuser causing your problem. To replace drum you need to open the machine by hitting the gray release latch on eft ide of machine to clamshell it open. Inside you will see th toner cartridge/ dv unit on the far right and immediately to the eft of that is the drum unit. You need to release the dv unit by turning a lever before removing the drum unit. Should probably call a tech to do this for you so you dont scratch or damage the drum. Drum life on that model is about 30,000 prints. Whats the meter reading on that copier?

Can you please give more details.
If you moved the contrast slider darker and it still doesn't work, one solution is the end part has snapped below where the resistance dial is on circuit board. You'll have to unscrew panel to access circuit board. Not difficult but time consuming.
Please check that lamp is not dead.
Check all the coroner wires.
Is the supply of toner flowing or somewhere interrupted.
Take a piece of papaer and write all that's happening.
(for others to solve).
By doing this, you may stumble on something that's not working.

This is the symbol for a paper jam. Clear the jam and if it continues you may have to clean the feed rollers, see if a piece of paper is in the paper path, or the guide just before the registration roller is flipped forward and needs to be rotated to the correct position.

**** open the copier to see if the developer has fallen away from the drum unit or is the tab below where the toner is put in out of place. Sometimes, if out of place, when the copier closed shut the arm is moved to the right side of the post ( located on the lower half of the copier ) and move the developer away from the drum unit and produces light copiers or even blank copies.

Unfairly, that feeder has it's own issuse's > it was a very bad design from Canon > It works really good or not at all.... There is a tech pub for a new drive motor for the doc feed belt & new sensors for the paper path..... It may also, be that it needs new adf feed rollers..... Did it work before you got it? If soo, I'd call the person you got it from and have them fix it. Or you can call a service person. The copier is a tad bit old....... Good Luck

Sounds like the middle roller may have ink on it.

You can either try to clean the rollers or replace the rollers.
