Can't disable the alarm
Press lower left hand button until you reach alarms may say snz or sig use the bottom right hand button to cycle through the options, to turn an alarm on or off press the adjust button top left you will then see off or on in the lower circle on the watch face. Also there is a graphical display at the top of the screen Alm sig and snz when there is no black bar here all alarms are off.

Atomic watch
You most likely don't have the Daylight Savings Time (DST) set to AUTO mode. Just hold the ADJUST button until the time starts blinking. Then hit MODE and DST will show on the top. Hit RECEIVE as needed until you see AUTO in the bottom. Then just hit ADJUST 2 more times and you're set.
These instructions are actually for my Casio G-Shock MTG-900 but I imagine they're very similar for most G-Shock atomic watches.

Backwards watch?
if you just got the watch then I would take it back. Other wise you are going to have to send it in. None of the casio watches should run backwards. Call repairs and tell them what's going on. 800-706-2534 and then option 2.

I have a Casio 1470
mcdevito75 here, I would see the jeweler who installed the new batteries and ask to have the battery install double checked so they are makeing proper contact with the LCD movement. In the meantime you can try to hold down the MODE button for a few seconds and see if the display appears, also if the display screen has turned very dark, your Casio may have had it, as the LCD display could have gone bad. New batteries should bring up a display even after the watch has been stored. Hopefully the display is still a grayish color and the new batteries need re-alignment.
