Hi and welcome to FixYa,
Initially, determine if there is power on the yellow and red wires (+12VDC).
If yes, press the RESET button (bottom left of the front panel using a ballpen). This should force the unit to revert back to factory defaults removing glitches and settings/configurations in the memory, presets and user preferences.
Should none of the above be corrective, then check if there is power on the blue/white and orange/white wires. If none, then the unit has an internal electronic fault which would require opening up.
Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.
I have a error message in my jvc kd-sh55
Try resetting the stereo. The reset button is located on the bottom left of the face plate. It is a tiny hole and you take a pencil or a pen and insert it in the hole and hold for a few seconds. This may work... Hope this helps.
Just installed KD-SH55 JVC in Tahoe myself, no lights on but ejec
if it has a face plate and most after market radios do then it may not have a good connection check and make sure it does maybe even clean them with alcohol also make sure you got a good ground it may not have enough power to come on all the way (<-- rarely is the case) but it sounds like a bad radio

Jvc kd-sh55 head unit
Have you tried pressing the "RESET" button on the stereo? I have a JVC unit in my car and the reset button is a tiny hole behind the detachable face. Take a pencil or a pen and insert the end into the tiny hole an hold for a few seconds. This will reset the stereo and you should be able to eject the CD as you normally would. If it's a mini-disc (8mm) you probably would have to take the unit apart and manually retrieve it - big hassle. Check the owner's manual to find out where the "RESET" button is if it is not behind the face. If you don't have the owner's manual, you can download one from jvc.com.. Hope this helps.
