the accessory wire needs to work with the key turning. the battery wire connects to the battery. if you have a volt meter it can be very easy to find your wire connections in the fuse box. find the ignition fuse in the box set your meter to volts dc take your black lead to a chassis ground and the red lead to one side of the ignition fuse turn your key to accessory and see if you get 14 volts if you do get it thats your connection. if not try the other side of the fuse.

Control knob is going out try opening and spay with contact cleaner
