GM-V42S self diagnosis: on the

This isn't much help, sorry.I searched all over JVC home page and could not find any mention of a plasma TV,or your model number. If everything is posted correctly,it doesn't appear that they have anything left for plasma and they are slowly disappearing also by everyone.I do not know how this site works as far as extra charges or not,or whether they get paid no matter what, but whether or not you approve my solution is fine with me.This site is quickly disappointing me and I see complaints all the time.LCD TV's are proving to be better designed and more reliable than plasma. Most of the circuit boards I have looked up for this size TV are $300+.With the holidays coming up,economists are predicting excellent sale savings due to overstock. This is common with newer technologies.Prices start high, come down as time passes, then when just about everyone has what they need, the manufacturers do not know enough to produce less and there is massive flooding of the item. You probably should just get a new one.We bought a brand new 42" over the summer for about $650.That there is 2 circuit boards. The better brands are LG,Samsung, perhaps Panasonic,JVC,and Phillips, maybe Vizio.I never see Vizios posted here and rarely see the first 2.Please do not buy an Olevia or an Akai or other off-brands.I see constant problems with those 2 in particular.Something you want to look for is a dynamic contrast ratio between 60,000:1 and 150,000:1 with 1080p.Any ratio bigger or smaller either isn't as good or is unnecessary as far as picture quality. Also, never buy a display model. The discount they give seems like a deal but what the TV has already endured is not even close to worth it.Also,if the TV does not come with it's own cleaning cloth,it is best to use one for a flat screen. You always dust it dry and rarely use maybe a little water,as pure as possible,to clean the screen. If you really want to pursue repair on your plasma, here is the link to JVC.Plasmas have gotten somewhat better. If yours is older than 5 years,it is pretty much obsolete. The technology is moving faster than computers did.If you need any more help, here I am. gmccarthy86 hotmail Good luck,Greg

Have a JVC GM-V42UG plasma

This signals a hardware fault - more precisely it signals the fact that the power source is in protected mode because there's a short on one of its outputs.
To find out which actual part is the one that failed you must open the tv and test the power source with a voltmeter - the output which has a voltage much lower than the rated one (or even 0) is the one that powers the faulty part, follow it and test all the components.

Hi I have a gm v42e plasma have lost remote

The replacement part number is RM-C579-2.
You can order it from JVC, or try googling it and buying from a website that specialises in remote controls.
It is about £40 for a replacement remote, I got mine a little cheaper from avukltd, and they delivered sooner than JVC said they would take (2-4 weeks!)

I have lost my remote for JVC TV GM-V42S. Where

I contacted JVC professional to find out the model number for my JVC GM-V42E. Once you have the model number, contact JVC and order a new one or google the product number and try using websites that are dedicated to providing remote controls, I was able to get one from avukltd.com a little cheaper and more quickly than JVC said they would have the product in stock.
I also found the remote control product number on the bottom of the plasma screen.

Jvc plasma monitor gmv42e can not get a picture

I have just been given one of these, it not a TV, it is a monitor, and so does not have a TV tuner or a scart (it was made for professional use).
You need to plug it in to a DVD player/Freeview/Sky box using alternative means to a scart lead. You can do this by using a scart to 3 BNC lead and plugging this in where it says 'Component/RGB B'. This carries the picture, but not the sound. To get the sound you will need to plug a twin phono lead into the red and white audio plugs.
Alternatively, you can use the 'Video in' yellow socket to connect to connect to a DVD etc. The guy did this in Maplin's and it seemed to work.
JVC professional were really helpful on the phone, ask for their technical department, they can also email you the manual.

Hi I have a gm v42e plasma have lost remote

Just bought one of these! The code is: RM-C579-2
They cost about £40 and you can buy them from JVC, they take about 2-4 weeks to get them in stock. Alternatively, I bought mine for about £35 from another supplier that is based in Birmingham and got me a genuine JVC one within a week. Their website is: avukltd.com
They have just copied the software to make a compatible remote control as JVC have stopped making these, so you may be able to get that cheaper still :-)

As far as concern you require the method of entring service mode. It is given below :

ENTERING SERVICE MODE:

In standby mode, press buttons on the remote commander sequentially in rapid succession as shown below:

DISPLAY---> CHANNEL 5----> VOL (-)--->POWER

Note that this differs from entering the service mode (volume [+]).

Thanks for using fixya.

Problem with my jvc av42pd20es picture looks like a negative photo

There are two things that can cause what you see.

The main drive board to the Plasma tube is not supplying proper drive voltage, or proper biasing to the Plasma tube. Or, the Plasma tube itself have gone weak.

I hope you did not pay too much for that screen. This type of repair is very expensive! I am sure that is the reason why the seller put the set up on auction.

I always tell our customers, to never buy used unless you know the seller is reliable, and that you can test the set and have it professionaly checked before buying it.

If you can find a couple of Plasma sets of the same model with a good display tube and maybe some bad boards, you can then do some board swaps to make one out of the two. That is if the used sets you get don't all have the same fault. We've also been through this.

Power supply, or main drive board are the two most common problems in many of these sets.

You would be best to send the set to the authorized service rep. He will be able to swap out the boards for new ones to find the bad boards. Then he would be able to adjust the set with the new boards, and it would be fixed.

Get an estimate before agreeing to service the set. These sets can be very expensive to repair.
