The clicking you hear is probably caused by a relay that controls the incoming AC to the main power supply. Common Problem #2) CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

did you check the low ohm resistors. A JVC will almost always blow at least one and if the ICs are replaced without replacing the resistors the new ICs will fail instantly

The convergence ICs have failed. You can get the JVC AV48WP74 - AV65WP74 convergence repair kit from www.tvrepairworld.com which has the ICs and resistors plus the CD with detailed repair instructions.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the settings menu then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move RED and BLUE in all directions - up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions or cant move them far enough your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

Note: If you TV has as flash focus or magic focus button only try pressing the button. If it fails to fix the convergence your need to fix it. See below for a solution

CONVERGENCE SOLUTION

You will need to replace the convergence chips and possibly some convergence resistors and pico fuses.

Yes it is worth fixing . You can fix it yourself for about $ 21 . You need to replace the convergence I.C. chips , The part # is STK392-310 . you need two of them . You can get them from bluestar-online.com . They are about 6 bucks a piece and about 10 for shipping .

The problem is in the convergence circuit. If you have soldering skills you could possibly replace the convergence ICs, if not you would need to take it to a shop. If you have never had the back off a set before this would not be a good repair for you to start with.

Go to Encompass Parts Distribution type in your Model Number they will list Parts /numbers and Prices.

This kind of picture problem is due to failure of convergence out ICs, please replace convergence out ICs in tv to get it fixed.
If you are handy with electronics stuff repair and can replace parts in circuit board with proper tools then can replace above said ICs by yourself or ask local tv tech to repair your tv.
