I JUST BOUGHT A MAXENT

The streak does sound like a fault with the tv. Does this happen even after removing the cable? Also if you connected the cable to the VCR see if you have component out(Red, Yellow, White output). You can use that to connect the VCR to your tv's component input. This will not be HD though. If you want HD you may need a DVD recorder with a HDMI out.

I JUST BOUGHT A MAXENT

Hi. There must be a place to attach an antenna if not a cable connection. look for two screws close to one another on the rear of the set. At radio shack or walmart get an adapter that allows you to attach to the two screws and then has the screw on part to attach the cable.

Regarding the stripe, you may have to take the tv into a shop and have a component replaced in order to get rid of that. If you take it into a shop you will save the house call charge. Call around and get the best price before you take the tv in. J.

Have sound...No picture whatsoever.

Have you tried unplugging the TV for a minute and then plugging it back in to cause a reboot? (After restarting you would need to scan for digital channels again.)

The buttons on the front have receded into the set

Hi,

Try to use Tweezer's to Pull out the Receded Button. If that would not work, you need to Open the Front Panel and Change the Buttons.

Let me know, if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

if I were you I would move the TV to a place where it would get more air to the vents of the TV so the heat buildup would be less.

The power will not come on

Bad capacitors, resistors and some switching regulators on the power supply need replacing. Tell the technician to use high grade parts for longer life.

My Maxivent TV serial #P1420542HM8

This problem is common when the X-main board has gone out. If the tv is still under warranty, I would give them a call and have them come fix it. X-main board will cost you about $80-$150. But finding them is tricky. You will have to remove the back panel of your tv and get the part number off it.

Same problem with my maxent 42 Inch.

Does the line appear on just one input(cable,hdmi,video1,video2,ect) or on all of them? The reason why I ask is it may be just an issue with one input setting on the television and you may be able to use a different input for a temporary fix of the problem. Plasma telivisions run very hot and it may be overheating. Try using a small mountable fan above the TV pointed into the back heat vents and see if keeping it cooler keeps the issue from happening. These TVs are repairable but usually cost more to repair than what it is worth due to plasma TVs are very in-expensive now.
