Mitel 5220 IP Phone - Page 5 Questions & Answers
MITEL 5224-how do you set up your voicemail??
I have this phone at work. There's a button that looks like an envelope. Touch that and it will prompt you through recording your voice mail. This phone also features various "away" messages so that you can record a couple different ones and then activate whichever you want depending on your day. This is also accessed through the voicemail button. Once you play around with it a little, you'll find it's a rather simple phone. Right now, I'm trying to figure out how to access my voicemail from home! Good luck!
How do I see what the phone numbers are to each line?
Morning pklua,
To check the numbers from the system, unless the programmer typed in these numbers into your phone system, these numbers will not be in the system.
The easiest way to check your numbers, is call from each line and see what number pops up on a call display phone.
There is what we call an ANI number; here in Alberta, Canada we can dial a number to an automated system that will tell you the number that you are calling from:
In Southern Alberta you call - 403.958.6111
In Northern Alberta you call - 780-958-6111
There are service providers that you can call 611 to tell you the phone numbers.
If you have a ROT(rotary) numbers, you will have to call your service provider, give them pilot(main) number and get the service provider give you all your phone numbers.
To see what extension numbers on the system, go to each set, press the Blue Superkey and press the bottom right key, this will display the extension of the set.
Cannot Hear the Ringer
could be set to "no ring" on the system, if so it will never ring, sounds like you need to talk to your helpfull sys admin!! ;-)
Phone pingable but i don't can acces to the Web configuration
the sequence should be cord from the wall to the lower socket on the phone, then another cord from the top socket of the phone to the the pc. If this is connecting to a 3300 controller you should not normally have static ip's and should be using DHCP so that the phones get the correct options for tftp etc.
Change the time on the phone
you need to log into the management console of the mitel 3300 if this is the system that you have and then click on the "group administration tool" option, you may or may not have access to this depending on your security setup on the system. Then it is self explanitory you see the change time option. All sets will update in seconds.
How to clear message waiting light on Mitel 5220 IP Phone
it depends on the setup of the system the codes can be changes by the admins.
Mine is set to #87
You need to dial this code then your extension number so if your extension is 1234 you would dial #871234 this in theory can be done from any ext, it does not have to be yours, there is a posibility that it will not work as you can change permissions so tht some extensions cant do this. If ythis is the case ask your admin to change the "class of service"
1) No dial tone in the handset 2) speaker key will not work
You have the headset feature active on your phone. You more than likely dialed the headset code inadvertently, there are two ways to turn this feature off. 1) If you have a headset key programed on a key on your phone turn it off. 2) Dial the headset off code, you can obtain this from your local admin.
Sorry I didn't have quick fix for you.
Reprogramming mitel phones for a different astreixs network
Interesting, problem.
First off, you are not going to be able to reprogram the ip phones yourself. I just completed training on a similar network. This is way too much information that you need to have access to in order to program them (ip addresses, mac addresses and so on). Don't think because you know how to set the IP addresses on a computer you can do the phones. It is a totally different process.
You will need to telnet into the phone server, etc.etc. You will need to know factory codes for programming and access menus. etc.etc.
But, it doesn't sound like your telephones are the fault here. It would be really strange for all of them to go out at one time. It sounds more like a network problem or server issue.
Try rebooting the phone unit (server) and then rebooting a few phones and see if the system comes back up. Also check the network connections from your server to network switch. Also try some different ports incase you have a switch port failure.
I can assure you that this is not something you want to approach by yourself. I have been doing moderate IT work for years and the IP phones are still a little confusing to me.
Changing the main answer message
Hi Cindy,
a couple of requirements here;
1~ you need to know the VM huntgroup number ie; number dialled to access the voicemail system
2~ the administrator mailbox number usually, 999 or 9999 by default
3~ the admin vm pin code which is usually 8642 by default
basic menu selection;
4 change system gereetings
1 change primary greetings
the system will supply voice prompts to allow you to change system greetings,
The superkey is the Blue key on the top left of the set
4 sys gereetings
1 pri greeting
if you are trying to change AA greetings follow the above just change the VM box number to the one associated with the Auto attendant alternativly you can configure the greeting from the System administration tool under the following ;
Sys Administration menu -> Voice Mail -> System audio files Update
select the AA greeting and greeting type
Need to change greeting
main system greetings can be changed via the administrator mailbox, dial your voicemail huntgroup number, on answer press the * key and supply the admin mailbox number which is usually 999 or 9999 the default pincode is 8642 then follow the voice prompts to change the system greeting.
Need to set password
To keep your voicemail messages secure most vendors keep this is an administrator function or at least a technician level change, you will need to contact your system admin or your Phone vendor to reset your pass-code.
Cannot receive calls and dial tone flashing
You have a feature active on your phone it's more than likely a call forward feature which would redirect you calls. The broken dial tone or stutter dial tone is an indicator a feature is active. Contact you system admin for the clear all feature code and the clear all call forwarding codes.
Ip 5220 Mitel
You'll need to log into the voicemail server or PBX that hosts the VM and reset the passcode for each mailbox you're trying to access. If you have an embedded Mitel VM you can change the passcode by logging into the Admin mailbox then select option 2 to edit mailboxes, pick the mailbox to edit and follow the prompts until you have the option to change passcode
