Hi the problem you are having will be with the starter located on the circuit board2.gif where the power lead attatches to the telly thiss will have a thick black wire coming from this to the screen.

To replace this you will need special equipment and i wouldnt advise doing it yourself as the telly is still live up to 2 days after it is unplugged from the mains.
As for the cost of the repair you will find it cheaper to buy a new telly as when the things go wrong like yours you tend to solve one problem after another so it would be best to replace the whole telly its just not worth repairing yourself.
If you wanted it repairing then goto a small repair shop as they are glad of the work and tend to charge alot less than bigger shops.

Please dont attempt this yourself unless you have been trained to read schematices.

Its not worth electricuting yourself by removing the case as their is no easy fix to this problem this is a common problem with all tellys of your type this happens to them all after a certain time so its not just your telly ive had it happen 3 times.

The first time i done the repair as i have been trained to do this type of work but i found i just kept getting problem after problem so the next 2 tellys that went wrong i just scrapped it really is not worth doing.

Sorry i couldnt give you good news hopefully you wont give me a bad rating but if their was a way to solve your problem i would advise you on it but their is no easy fix. sorry

Just press the buttons on the TV randomly, sometimes this combination works in starting the TV w/o a remote. After that use the remote for the dish to flip channels, but you will have to set the sound manually from time to time.......sodeep

If you press display on the remote, it will go away. It will come back, it's a common fault for this set and theres a mod to be done to the eeprom.

Hi Wylie77,

The feature you are looking for would is called CC or Closed Captioning. Per your owners manual you would press the menu button, then move up and down to select "CLOSED CAPTION" from the list. Then to edit the feature press left or right. Select CAPTION to on. The manual lists four different types of captioning (C1-C4) and also four different types of "Text" (T1-T4). Usually one of the caption listings will display only when the mute is selected...its just not very clear which one exactly will do it.

One word of warning, you would not want to activate the Text features. This will sometimes have a large black box appear in the middle of your screen providing other information.

Unfortunately JVC does not have a link to your manual on their website, but the manual should be able to be found by entering JVC AV-32120 Manual in a search engine. I would check a few of the results because some maybe free others may ask for a "nominal" fee.

Hope this helps.

Sounds like your "CC" (closed captioning) is turned on and it is set to text mode.Go into the menu and turn the closed captioning "off". The default v-chip unlock code is "0000"

Unplug the JVC from the power outlet for 10 seconds. Plug the JVC TV back into the power outlet. Hold down both the "Menu" and "Volume Down (-)" buttons for another 10 seconds. Just before releasing these buttons, press and hold the "Power" button.

I found a Portugese version of the user manual for the JVC RX-884VBK at ManualsLib here: https://www.manualslib.com/products/Jvc-Rx-884vbk-3775235.html . Take a look at the sections on using the remote starting around page 65. (There is a section on the CompuLink Features and then a page about using the remote with a VCR. After that, I saw remote control codes.) Most Redi-remotes are programmed with the factory standard codes for an original remote. That means that it will not control other AV devices that are newer than the RX-884VBK. Usually universal remotes are limited to controlling devices that were manufactured/programmed 6 months or more before the remote itself was programmed. I hope this helps. Cindy Wells (Note: I don't read Portugese but used cognates and the adjacent pictures to follow the documentation. I couldn't find any other language versions of this manual.)

A red flashing light on a JVC TV means that the TV timers function has been activated. When setting the programmable clock it will automatically turn on and turn off your TV at predetermined times.

It's not the outage that causes the issue, it is the power surge when it goes, often caused by a lightning strike of 100,000 volts, and also a surge when the power comes back on. If it took out one board, it took them all out, because they are all connected together.Change all the boards, but I bet it still won't work. Claim to your electricity utility company or claim on house insurance.
