Trying to connect dvd player
The DVD player should have come with a cable with red, white, and yellow ends on it. Plug these into the corresponding color plugs on the back of the DVD player. Then find the same colors on the back or front of the TV. They should be labeled "INPUT" or simply "IN" and they should be grouped together. The next step is to cycle through your inputs. There should be a "TV/VIDEO" or "INPUT" button on the TV orremote. Some sets just make you channel down all the way below channel 1 and the input appears there. If your set changes to the highest channel when you go below 1 then yours isn't like this. Anyway, at this point you should hear and see the movie you're trying to play if the DVD player says it is playing. If your TV does not have a yellow plug then it must be very old. You will need what is called an "RF modulator." This will allow you to plug in the three colors to your coaxial "screw-in" connection on the TV and you will tune to channel 3 or 4 to watch the video just like a VCR. Check any electronics store for these. Good luck!
I have lost the color red in my tv. Any way to get
if it totally lost the red it could be a few things ,worse case is the red gun in the crt or you have lost the drive from the signal prosesssing board via the crt base board.
you should seek help from a service engineer
Picture mostly green
In that case does this color problem occur on all inputs? If not then please make sure that the connections, especially the red connector, are clean and tight
Tv PROBLEM
The black box your are seeing on the screen is the box to display text. It is listed under your "cc" closed captioning setting as T1, T2 etc. Go into your closed captioning and shut off the text. You can still leave closed captioning on or off. The text system was never really used but they put it on all of the TV's.

Press right side button or Vol+ and Mode will be highlighted
Press right button or Vol+ until it says Off on the right hand side of the Menu
Press exit and that should do it.

Your TV is in the protection mode. First, locate the horizontal output transistor. This is found very close to, or next to, the horizontal output transformer (also known as the flyback). The flyback should be on an aluminum heat sink, or on the side of the metal chassis. Disconnect or unsolder two of the three legs of the transistor. Measure it with your meter, or plug in the set with the light bulb attached across the fuse.
If the transistor is shorted, or the light bulb doesn’t glow bright anymore, replace the transistor and plug back in. If the light bulb glows bright again, you must replace both the flyback and horizontal output transistor simultaneously. In some cases this will fix the set, but sometimes there are multiple problems with a set.
Go to where the flyback is, and start measuring the diodes and capacitors on the flyback itself. If you don't find any shorts there, it could be a shorted vertical output IC, a shorted sound IC, a shorted disc capacitor in the Hi Voltage/sweep circuit, or in rare cases, a shorted capacitor or tuner.Feel free to ask and post whatever the result of your troubleshooting..
Hope this may help;

Hi adjuster...I'm sorry I'm not prepared to specifically list the chain of events when an individual electronic component, let alone a series of electronic components, which, when properly phased, assembled, and provided applicable AC/DC voltage/wattage/amperage is exposed to currents in excess 500% of it's inherent design specifications. However, this paragraph does directly pertain to your last sentence in your post, which is intended to give you the insight into the methodology required to answer your seemingly simple question of "what happens when a TV is subjected........"
I understand your predicament, which is causing you to ask this question. I understand that no T is left un-crossed in the specifications of your Policy and Remediation practices, however, I think you're going to have to interpret this case in the Spirit of the Intention with the policy.
Although this particular TV may have been on the high-end of the spectrum within it's class at the time of release, for $445.00 you could replace this with a new current tube type TV, which in todays market, could be in the high-end of the spectrum in tube tv's. And therein lies your predicament because you will be exceeding your limit of making your Client WHOLE. If this is stated as unacceptable as a standard within your company, you do have an argument in that you have a wonderful marketing and relationship tool with this Client by selling the fact that you are exceeding the indemnification limits by replacing his unit with a better one, yet staying within replacement costs.....I hope I have helped you with your issue.....good luck my friend

Most TVs of that caliber have a life expectancy of about ten years.. In 2009 we'll be passing into the HD era and that Tv won't work without a little help from an HD converter.
What you're describing sounds like some transistor problems on the crt board and possibly voltage regulation. Not too expensive for a reputable shop, but my best advice would be to get an estimate first.
If you need help finding a reputable shop contact NESDA, (National Electronic Service Dealer's Assn.) they should be able to direct you to a member's shop in your area. Its like going to the AMA to find a doctor.
If the cost is more than half the cost of buying new - get a new one...
Good Luck
