I would guess you are using an antenna or a cable service without a set-top box.

When the TV is using HDMI or component video it does not employ the decoding for the color as like when using an RF feed. Most people of today do not use RF directly in to their TV set using the built in tuner. They feed a desk-top box that feeds a decoded picture in to the set via the component RGB connectors, or they are using HDMI.

When viewing an RF signal from the antenna or cable using the TV's internal tuner, check the video settings. make sure the setting for Color is turned up to 50% of its range to start with. If there is no color, check to make sure the Settings are correct. Check to see if the TV has a black and white mode, and this mode is turned on.

Check to see if the TV receiver section is for your location type. If you have a set from another country that uses another broadcast system for color this can be an issue.

It is also possible the TV set's color decoder for RF reception is defective. This would require proper service. You would not be able to service this yourself.

Based on the info you supplied these are the best suggestions I can think of...

Displaying greens screen is a bad symptom indeed. You should suspect its display paneel. Contact any service technician, and make it sure.

Check its color system adjustments. It will be best to make a factory reset to this set. Just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it after 10 minutes of so. This must make your TV a hard reset. If this do not help you, the chroma section circuits of your TV need to be checked for fault/s. This is a skilled work, and it will be best to contact any experienced service technician.

This could be several things. At its best you have an open resistor near the flyback. You may have a bad ground on a color output transistor, or a bad ground on a color output resistor. These are located on the small board connected to the CRT. In really bad cases you may have replace the transistors, or resistors. But in worst cases, and I do believe its true, you have a bad picture tube. I would not recommend a repair. I have seen this problem with many, many TVs of any brand. You are smarter to purchase a new TV. Thanks for asking and show all hands of support!

I just wanted to suggest some things for you to try, if you have not done them already. Try hooking up a known good signal, such as the main input cable from your cable or dish, hook it straight to your tv, and see if you can change channels, and get a picture on low band...2 thru 6, and then if not, how about any picture above channel 6, if you get picture on 2 thru 13 now, it could be whatever you have hooked in between the input cable and the tv...be sure you have the tv on the right channel for your receiver, usually 3 or 4, or if you are using another type of video input cable, make sure you have tv on the right input for that cable and that cable is good...check the in and out of your component unit, for correct cable hookup as well as your cables, in reference to using RCA video and audio left and right in and out...a lot of sets and vcr's will go to a blue screen if they lose signal to them....I hope this helps you out some.If you cannot get a picture from hooking your signal straight to your tv, it could be the tuner got a spike from a thunderstorm, or has lost the B Plus source for the tuner circuit. Be sure that it is not selected for an input signal, other than the cable or antenna mode, the onscreen text should verify this, if you can change channels with or without getting video...a picture....Good luck with it. T.

It sounds like thats the maximum number of channels it can tune or you are probably scanning either analog/digital channels only. Is the model number that you have listed correct?

Sorry to tell you this, but that's one symptom of a bad picture tube. After it's warmed up a little, one of the elements in the neck touches something it shouldn't and you see the result. There's no repair except a new tube, and that's completely uneconomical. It would be less expensive to replace the set.

I've found several bad solder joints on the neck board of my JVC 32' leading to the exact same issues as yours. Inspect the Driver resistor solder on the neck board.

In my case, the adjustment was available from outside the TV. Sortof. On the rear of the TVabout 2 inches to the right of the coax in, there are two vertical slits on a little protrusion. Inside the slits are the two adjustment screws. The lower screw adjusts brightness, the upper screw adjusts focus.

Does it have a video input? Does it have color when playing a vhs tape or dvd into the video input?

Does the set show the raster lines? Is there any snow showing on the raster?

If the set does not show color with an a/v input either then it is likely the main power supply section feeding the deflection system or the video processing is bad.

RCA sets more than a few years old are not good investments for repairs, unfortunately.

Let me know the answers to the questions above and I can give you a more precise suggestion.
 Good Luck
