I had the same problem. I blew the dust out of the printer, cleaned the rollers, and checked for updates....still would jam in duplex mode. I finally got a bright flashlight and watched the paper through the crack between the back cover and case and discovered the paper was getting stuck under the paper tray. I turned the printer on its front and discovered there was a partial sheet of paper stuck in the paper path. It was difficult to get to but when I removed it, the printer started working correctly again in duplex mode. Hope this helps some of you with the same problem.

Depends on OS. Generally speaking reinstall all software including drivers after uninstalling them
ONLY use the supplied drivers NOT windows drivers!
Mac OS X will sort itself out.

The 4 blinking lights means that the fuser either got too hot or didn't heat in the expected time or there was a mechanical problem. See https://support.brother.com/g/b/faqend.aspx?c=us&lang=en&prod=hll2320d_us_as&ftype3=1968&faqid=faq00000170_025 . The first step of the diagnostic is to turn off the printer and wait for a bit. Turn it back on but leave the unit idle for at least 15 minutes. If the printer is under warranty, contact Brother.

Otherwise, if the error repeats, you'll need to check whether a thermistor is faulty, the wiring has a problem or if one of the PCBs (control board) is faulty. Check the wiring harnesses for broken conductors and the connections for corrosion. If the fuser unit gets hot without getting excessively hot, then one of the thermistors isn't detecting the temperature or the message didn't get to the PCB. If the fuser unit stays cool or gets way too hot, then the fuser heating element (or the wiring between that part and the PCB) is a likely culprit. A service manual is available here: https://printcopy.info/?mod=erc&brand=Brother&model=HL-L2320D&page=3 .

I hope this helps.
