JVC BR-DV3000U DV/Mini DV VCR Questions & Answers
Tapes not in 24p play for 2 seconds than stop, WHY?
The BR-DV3000 DV deck has LP inhibit function which is set in the operations menu. JVC does not recommend the use of LP mode and therefore locks this mode out by default. You can change this setting to allow operation in LP mode if you like but I don't recommend it. Using LP mode on DV tape causes the error rate to escalate due to the narrower track width produced by the slow moving tape.
Good Luck, this is a nice machine!

Red light blinking won't accept tape
If a tape "hung" up and it won't accept one you have a loading issue. The unit may use a belt to drive the tray or a geared mechanism. In any case someone needs to open the unit up to "see" what is happening. Most of these a tape can be inserted with power off and manually cycled into the unit to see the issue---we usually use a old cassette with the tape inside removed to avoid issues. If you cannot do that consider looking for a shop who will (some no longer work on this type of equipment.)
1394 Fire Wire
I change my PC to new windows vista and the new PC don't recognize any VCR throw firewire, but the machine recognize my canon LG-2 by firewire. I need something special like a special driver to run my JVC's BR-DV3000 & BR-HD50 for capture video

JVC BR-DV3000 Mini DV-DVCAM issue
If the problem only shows with Mini DV tapes, it can be a tape guide issue or a mchanism loading problem where the tape is not being properly "seated" into the tape mechanism. You will need to use an oscilloscope to look at the RF waveform coming off the tape to try and figure out where your problem is.
Unit will not power on.
One or more sections of the power supply are not coming on. This unit has both fuses and ICP's (integrated circuit protectors) in the power supply that may open up causing your symptom. You will need to check and/or replace any open fuses or ICP's. If they immediately open up again, you will need the manual to figure out what is loading the power supply, or what component in the power supply has failed.
With MiniDV tapes, the DVCam indicator ignites and the reading becomes jerked.
It could be several things causing your problem. The video head may be worn, the tape guides may be out of alignment or you may have a mechanism problem keeping the tape from wrapping securely around the rotating drum. If you can use an oscilloscope, you should check the RF signal coming off the drum test point to see if it is clean, or if half the signal is missing (bad drum or video head) or not smooth (guides out of adjustment).
MiniDV tape stuck inside
sounds like a defective cassette housing, but i have seen problems with jvc decks and camera when tdk or maxell tapes were used. the lids on these tapes seem to get stuck in the cassette housings in jvc equipment. jvc even recommends that tdk and maxell tapes be avoided.
