MY JVC HX D7 IS ON PROTECT MODE

Generally speaking, an amp protects itself from heat, shorts and overloads by refusing to turn on or stay on.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'naked'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced hands-on tech.

Check for loose speaker connections as a root cause for intermittent shutdown.

I turn it on and it says protect then it turns off

Disconnect the speakers and turn it back on. If it still says "protect" it needs serviced. If not, turn it off and re connect one speaker at a time and turn on. If it goes back into protect, you need to check the speakers themselves for an internal short or a blown voice coil. If you have a multimeter, check the impedance on the speakers or the resistance on the speakers. If the meter reads 1...... the speaker is more than likely bad. If you need further help, post a comment and I can help you further.

DISPLAY READS PROTECT AND SHUTS

This is related to several problems, but the main problem is with the audio connection.

1. First disconnect the power cord from the mains and unplug the audio cable. Leave it for few minutes while you follow the next step

2. First check the audio cords, if possible try with another, (don't connect the audio cable this time).

3. Turn down the volume and all the controls, now turn on the system. [I hope the system's ok this time] Connect the audio cables one by one, and find out which on is creating the problem. [if it displays the same message at the first connection, try the second after removing the first, don't connect one after another, do it one by one, means if one connection is made and you find no problem, then unplug it and do the next] If this doesn't help, you need to follow the next step. *I hope this will definitely help you find out the culprit*

4. You final option is to call a technician.

Good luck.

Why does my jvc stereo goes off automaically and it says protect

exact same issue and I have cut the wires and get them and I'm still having the same issue as they are unplugged and it still does it but I'm not sure what else I can do to fix that problem. I have unplugged it and let it sitting for a few hours but the bottom of it warm which I don't think that's normal as I have worked with stereo systems for cars to home theatres just a normal stereo system like I have at home here.

When i push eject cd

Hello,

The first is a general LOCK probably to prevent people from fiddling with the controls while on display on the shopfloor. This lock is activated and removed by pressing the STOP key on the remote and on the front of the unit at the same time for 5-10 seconds. if the problem still persist, then follow the below procedure.

Unplug the CD player and take the outer casing of the CD player off. This entails either taking out two or three screws or simply sliding one of the pieces of plastic in either direction.
Locate the disc loader cover. The disc loader cover is located where the extending CD tray finally comes to rest within the CD player. It's the part that holds the CD loader in place.
Bend the two tabs outward that hold the loader in place. This is a delicate procedure because you don't want to hurt the device. The tabs are relatively easy to break since they're plastic in most cases
Slide the disc tray out. If your disc got stuck before it was read, it's probably still on this tray. If so, your problem is solved. However, if the disc was fully set and loaded, the job isn't quite finished yet.
Move the small mechanical arm that holds the disc in place over so that the disc and the reader are both exposed. Some CD players will not have anything holding the disc in place. Instead, these devices use a system not unlike that of a common CD case. The CD will be locked in place in the center.
carefully lift the disc up and out of its loaded position in the CD player. This may entail sliding the disc reading mechanism over slightly. This won't hurt the device as long as you're careful. You should be able to access and remove the disc.

Take care.

I turn on my JVC HX-D7 and will stay on

It sounds like you have a short. Check that your speaker wires are not crossed at any point. If no look into the connections and see if some wire has broken off into one and caused a short.

When i turn my stereo on it says protect and shuts

Protect on the display means there is a problem with the system and the system goes into protect mode to save the system from further damage. Now the problem could be many. ...... It cud be that the speakers are shorting......It cud also be the Amplifier IC's shorting ....in short the system could be detecting an overcurrent in any one of the circuits.......... a good technician may be able to rectify the problem

When attempting to turn on power, 'status protect'

it doesn't really power off, it's allways on and has an overheating issue even when it's "off" that you can troubleshoot by actually unplugging it for a few hours, it takes quite awhile to cool down. If it starts then (maybe even just a little while) then you have to cool it down inside. I removed the system main fan ($10) and put a bigger one (need to drill a few new holes) and turned it so it blew cool air into the circut area and heatsink for the amps, which is where the overheating is happening mostly, drill a bunch of holes in the upper part of the casing for proper ventilation. After messing with my system for months this was the trick never had a problem again. The error code my have a number of different problems that set it off though so this is just what worked for me.
