LG DR-4912 DVD Recorder Questions & Answers
Cannot record from tv to
You cannot record from the TV as the TV doesn't give an output to the DVD Recorder.
You can only record onto DVDs from an external source such as Freeview, Cable or Satellite Box.
How can i remove unwanted subtitles
Usually, if the subtitles are from your dvd player, you can go to the main menu, select "languages" or "setup" (depending on the dvd), and find the subtitle option. You should be able to shut them off there in the menu. If the subtitles are there because of your tv, there should be a button labeled "cc" on your remote. If you press this key a few times, it should eventually read something like "cc off" on the tv screen.
I hope this helps, and good luck!
Sincerely,
Der Strom
A disc has been inserted
Either you have to clean the glass laser eye with rubbing alcohol and cotton swab, if cleaning doesn't help read the disc, then the laser lens circuit is faulty due to bad capacitor and will need to be replaced.

the spindle may need cleaning. if the spindle is dirty the disc will slip causing errors when burning discs.
to do this you will have to open the unit up and remove the drive from the machine.
undo the screws holding the casing together (7 In total) and remove the top of the unit
the drive is similar to a normal pc dvd drive and is held in a clamp
next undo the four screws holding the circuit board to the right of the drive and carefully move it to expose two of the four screws holding the clamp in place, the other two screws are already visible on the left hand side of the drive
now carefuly remove the two cables from the back of the drive and undo the four screws holding the clamp in place. you should now be able to lift the drive, still in its clamp, from the unit.
undo the four screws holding the drive in the clamp and slide the drive out
on the bottom of the drive there are four screws holding the casing together, remove these, and carefuly coax and tease the casing apart. dont use force, be gentle.
using a cotton bud and alcohol, carefuly clean the spindle, removing all dust and dirt. you may as well clean the lens and any other dirt from the unit whilst you have it open
put the machine back together by reversing these instructions
LG DR4912 - Optical drive motor bouncing of the end stop.
Mine was doing the same.last night i opened up the machine & took out the cd drive and opened it up.I cleaned the laser with a cotton swab and manually pushed the laser back to the front of the unit as far as it could slide on the 2 little posts it slides along.

After Recording
Unit sounds like it has a small cooling fan at the rear. A bad fan bearing will produce a noise when dried-out. Replace the cooling fan.
I have a LG dvd

Clean the Lens: Use a DVD cleaning disc to clean the lens. If the problem persists, consider professional cleaning.
Test Other Discs: Try playing different DVDs to see if the issue occurs consistently. If it's specific to one disc, that disc might be the problem.
Check for Updates: Make sure your DVD player's firmware is updated. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions for firmware updates.
Try a Different TV: Connect your DVD player to a different TV to see if the noise disappears. If it does, the issue might be with your TV.
The hum is simply the player trying to read the disc. It can't so, it spits it out.
Remember that prolonged use of a malfunctioning DVD player could potentially cause damage. If the problem persists, consider seeking professional repair or replacement
