If you would tap and get it back it would strongly suggest that you have a connections problem somewhere. Bad connector or aged solder joint that gave out. Be careful because there is a lot of voltage in TVs but you are going to have to do some jiggling to find the weak joint and repair it. Worst case is you have a bad video card and those can be tough to find for older TVs.
Where is the lamp cover
Lamp cover will be on one side or rear and in owners manual it will show it.If you do not have the manual GOOGLE THE MODEL NUMBER WITH THE WORD MANUAL AFTER IT TO GET IT.
Blue streak appearing on screen after a while that
Sounds like either a hairline crack, or some image burning. Image burning is very common on projection televions, and are nearly impossible to fix. It could also be heat related, since it only happens after a while, so you could try leaving the TV unplugged for a few days and seeing if that helps the issue.

Have you replaced the lamp all ready this sounds like you have a bad BALLAST BOARD the ballast board is not working correctly it is not sending enough energy to maintain the lamp on but but sometimes it is able to gather enough to keep on for hours sounds like a bad BALLAST

Thanks for using FixYa. The issue is with the failed convergence (STK) ICs which needs tobe replaced. It’s not a difficult job if you want to do this yourself, youshould require some basic knowledge about soldering-resoldering components. Tostart with you’ll have to open the back of the unit and then replace the ICs(STK ICs) which are located behind the black heat sink and also check theresistors as if they are short the ICs might blow again after sometime. There are repair kits available whichincludes repair instructions with the parts, if you want to do it yourself, youcan buy and repair it yourself.
