Marantz SR-19 Receiver Questions & Answers
Audio glitch on Marantz SR-19
It's probably not heat due to the Marantz' large frame and heat-synchs.
This could simply be a mismatch of impedance. The amp is 120w per channel, so make sure the speakers can handle this. Check the impedance (ohms) of the speakers and the amp as well.
Clipping can be caused by overpowering the speakers, which could damage the speakers in the long-run.
If this is only from 1 source- (i.e.- Blu-ray player or cable) then it could be digital clipping.. This Marantz can decode 96kHz PCM or normal Dolby Digital & DTS. If this is a Blu-ray it may be streaming 192kHz PCM... (but most likely the Marantz will not even attempt to play that audio)
I hope this helps.
Pcm is flashing and no sound out of our receiver
If you have the PCM display flashing ,it means it has lost the PCM link with what ever equipment you have connected to this receiver. The light should be steady if all is OK. Try replacing the optical / coaxial cable.
Pcmcia is flashing and no sound out of our
Check page 31 of the manual regarding PCM versus theDTS settings. Choose AUTO surround mode and that might do the trick. Page 29
If the source is external, make sure it is sedning the desired digital audio format - PCM, Dolby Digital, DTS, etc.
Just picked up a Marantz SR-19, Everything looks
A Mute indicator would tell you if it was muted. Make sure no Tape or Multichannel Input are selected by mistake.
There are supposed to be jumpers across the Pre_Outs to Main In's in the back when you're NOT using external amps. You could substitute short RCA cables.
I need to connect to a Marantz SR-19 a record
On the back of the receiver there are connections, usually record player should be hooked up on Phono slot. If Phono is not available, trying using Aux or another slot that isn't being used. After hooking it up, remember the place you hooked it up, turn on the turntable, play a record, then hit the button on the receiver where the turntable is hooked up.
EXTRA SET SPEAKERS
Look on the back of the receiver where the existing speaker wires are connected. There should be some jacks there to connect 2 more speakers. There are 2 wires per speaker, put one in the red and one in the black. Some receivers have a button to turn on/off the extra speakers so make sure it is turned on if you have one.
Center channel goes muffled after a while of use.
It is likely that something overheating is causing the problem, but nothing should be overheating. Cleaning won't hurt and may help but it is likely to require repair of the faulty component, perhaps a failing capacitor or amplifier.
Memory back up
There is a capacitor in the circuit for the micro. This particular capacitor is for saving the memory settings and it is most likely defective now. You will need to take it to a repair center and have them check it out for you. Replacing this capacitor should not be too expensive, but you never know how some shops are going to charge you.
I do not have the schematics for this model of Marantz or I would just tell you what capacitor it is. This capacitor acts like a battery in the unit. It only requires a very small amount of power to maintain memory settings and these capacitors work very well for that purpose. Many times you can find them on the display board. But, once again, unless you have experience working with these type of units you should not try it yourself. It is very easy to damage electronics if you do not know what you are doing.
Let me know if you need any more help.

Marantz CD5004 tray keeps opening problem
CD/DVD players use a protocol;
Open tray. Insert disk. Tray switch tells mechacon that the tray is shut. Attempt to focus on disk.
If focus is acheived, then it will spin up and try to read the disk otherwise it will ask for a readable disk.
If the tray keeps opening, I would suspect the tray detect switch is malfunctioning, maybe the drive belt has stretched.
