I too had lost my music files from ipod due to file system corruption, so to reaccess those files again i kept asking different people "
How to recover music from ipod?" After sometime i got a satisfying answer which suggested me to use How To Recover software. This software scans each sector of storage device and retrieves each of the lost files. You may get it over internet easily.

Either the device is bad, the pc port is bad, or the software is faulty. Try connecting to different usb port, then a usb port on a different pc with a compatible os. If still not recognized, then there is physical damage to player.

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

I could only get surround sound for DVD, NOT cable/TV--regular audio jacks only give stereo for cable/tv, NOT surround sound. Very disappointing. Any thoughts/solutions for how to get surround sound? Cable box has digital output, but no input on the rtd 315, any help available? THX

Most likely, either the laser needs to be cleaned, or it has failed.
