Error 025

025 means that you have a string length outside the range. It is somewhat of a generic error. Look inside your data stream and see if you are providing more data in a field than you should. Example would be in your Format you have designated 12 characters for a field, and you provided 13 or more in the Batch record. Since this error is different from user to user, the generic answer works for all users with this issue, but the specific flag is different. I've seen it for description fields, barcode fields, and various other data fields where a quantity of characters is expected to be used, but a quantity + or - 1 or more of those characters sets off this error. If you could post a copy of your datastream, I may even be able to diagnose it. The Format portion of the datastream starts with something like {F,1,A,R,E... and ends with a }. Then there is the batch record with starts with something like {B,1,.... and ends with a } I would like to see all data from the frist { to the last } to be more helpful if you're not able to find it from this.

Error 616

The software is not corrupt. The 606 is basically telling you that one of the dots that heat up to make the image on your paper isn't able to heat up correctly. Since the printer can typically shift these dots over from one side to the other to help compensate for these dots going bad, it is also saying that it can't shift either. You're seeing this issue on a barcode, and instead of a barcode you're getting a gray box. If you're unable to make changes in your code that is going to the printer, that tells it what to print and where, your best bet is to purchase a new printhead form Avery. 1-800-543-6650 Though the issue can be worked around, it is possible that now that you can print that barcodes you want, you may find that new ones won't be able to print because they're printing in that same space where the printer cannot shift dots to compensate for the bad one.

Grap line 01 code 403 error

403 is defined as the Field Separator is missing. This is the ' character and can be found as the shifted character on the \ key, typically, above the enter key. Sometimes this character is incorrectly represented as a A6 when viewing it with a hex editor, and it should actually be a 7C. If you're able to use a program like Notepadd ++ and the hex editor plugin, you can validate if your ' is a 7C. If not, you can replace all of those characters in your datastream and resend the file. If you're using a 3rd party software that creates the datastream and it is the software that is incorrectly creating this character, see if there is a way to change the character in their software or drivers, or contact them directly to see if they can help. This is a data error and not a printer error. The printer is basically telling you that it cannot find the character that tells you where one line of data ends and the next one begings. And because it starts on line 1, it should be on the line that starts with something like looks like: {F,1,A,R,E,200,200,"TAG01"' <--- This is the character that appears to be of issue.

614 invalid data

614 definition is Portion of the field is off the tag. A way to explain this is that you've created a field that supports up to 25 characters, and the width of that label is only 2 inches. If you typically print using 22 or less characters in that field, you never see the problem, but when you use 23 or more characters, you get a 614. Meaning that characters 23 and higher don't fit in the designated space. You could move your field closer to the edge of the label to see if you can get additional room for the additional characters. You could choose to use a smaller font, or reduce the width of the current one being used so as to fit more in the same space, or you could consider using a feature in the printer to ignore imaging errors. Note that using that feature can give you the net result of not all of the needed data fitting on the label that you designed. That could cause pricing errors, incorrect or unwanted descriptions, various other codes, etc. Reply back if you think that you'd like to use the feature of ignoring the imaging errors and I can see if your printer supports the feature, as well as provide the step by step you need to enable and disable the feature for versions that support the function.

Error 403 is a field separator was not found. This is not a hardware error. It is a data error. This character is needed in order to determine when one line ends and the next begins. This may not be a Nicelabel issue if the character is being lost in transmission from the workstation to the printer. But it is definitely not a printer hardware issue. Code 26 appears to be an undefined code. A little research may be needed to get to the bottom of that one. Are you sure that it isn't a 25? 25 would fit as a string length is outside the range. When I read your comment about getting "bitmap errors", I am of the belief that you're downloading fonts or graphics to the printer, and because these datastreams can be long, if you don't have the correct settings for serial communications, specifically flow control, it is possible for buffers to overflow for a short enough period of time to lose just a couple of characters and then your data ends up broken and these errors can show up. If there is a way to get the file that you're using for your printer, or the datastream that Nicelabel is sending to the printer, I may be able to provide further assistance, but again, this is showing as a data error and it is possible that because Nicelabel doesn't understand the codes that they believe it is a hardware fault. If it can process some of the labels produced by Nicelable, and not others, I see further confirmation of the data going to the printer as being broken.

Memory full in monarch 9855

Memory full issues can happen for several reasons, and if you check to make sure that you're serial communication settings are set the same on the PC and printer, consider reconfiguring your printer's memory to accommodate busy or large batches of labels, and you should see this issue go away... but you may have to virgin reset the printer first.

Virgin resetting should only be done if the printer is out of warranty since the manufacturer can void your warranty if you do this. If your printer is under warranty, you should call their technical support group to find out what your options are 1-800-543-6650.

You may find additional assistance from them even if the printer is out of warranty. If you want to know how to reset the printer, please send me a msg and I can walk you through it.

Text printing now slightly larger than it used to be

Since the printer is only doing what it is told to do, it is my opionion that the data in the stream that goes to the printer has changed slightly.

Not knowing if you use 3rd party software to produce your labels, or if you manually write your code, take a look at the reference manual for programming if it is the latter and look for the opaque setting for that type and line of text. If you use a 3rd party app, you may need to contact them about the same type of setting.

This opaque type setting should allow the space around your characters to overlap without creating that box effect. Kind of like a gif with a transparent background.

Good luck

Usually there are screws on the arm that hold the ribbon that can be adjusted to tighten up the ribbon as it feeds into the printhead area. (just make sure that it's flat and smooth when feeding into the printhead area)If it looks okay and is still causing problems you might need to adjust the roller that is under the printhead because sometimes it is at an angle to the printhead and the result is the wrinkles that you see. (On some models you can't adjust the platen roller and have to adjust the printhead instead but you get the idea of what is going on.) Good luck.

Monarch 8055

Yes, it does require a take up reel or core. It should look the same as the one that is in the core of the ribbon spool.

You can order these from the manufacturer. Please note the width of your ribbon, as there may be more than one core width for sale for this model.

Their number is 1-800-543-6650

Ribbon error 754

Your printer is not correctly configured for ribbon. Download the manual located at ftp://www.servisource1.com/user_documentation/9855/9855oh-ae.pdf

Go to chapter 4-1 to see the map of the menu system and change your printer to ribbon yes.

Make sure that your printer is loaded with supplies and the ribbon is set up correctly, as well as slack taken out.

You may see a couple of labels not print well, but after that, you shold have proper tension and good print. If you notice a lot of ribbon wrinkle, you probably need to reload your ribbon or adjust the tension bars.

This should resolve any issue you have with the ribbon.

Invalid Command

Your 287 error has to do with an incorrect setting for printhead width, and in the control language that your software is sending to the printer, they either have something other than 0, or there is an invalid character like a carriage return or line feed being sent to the printer.

This is a difficult one to trace since the software sends the code and you cannot necessarily change what is being sent.

Please note that the software that you really should be using is PC Mate Plus, as this is a specialized printer for Paxar supplies called Care Labels. You may be able to cheat if your software allows you to select 300DPI print heads. If not, you'll need the software I suggest.

If you do not have this software, please contact Paxar (now Avery Dennison) at 1-800-543-6650 and ask to be connected to someone in technical support or if the customer service rep can offer you a link to a website for software download, or purchase.
