Dell 2300MP Multimedia Projector Questions & Answers
The projector lamp comes on (amber color) no image
I was told by an expert that the fan should come on as soon as heat starts to come on. You should never turn a projector off with out the fan running for a while to cool the bulb down. Each projector is different but the fan has to operate on then all. There is so much heat in the bulbs that air has to keep them cool when they are operating as well have to cool gradually when they are shut down.
Recognize macbook connect
You may need to check the settings of your mac book that permits you to output the signal to an external display. Also you may need to purchase a display port adapter (VGA, HDMI or DVI) that is compatible with the input connector on the projector

Decrease the screen resolution of your computer to the minimum possible value and check.
Probably the projector does not support the resolution of the laptop. With a lower resolution it might work.
We have a Dell MP2300
It should work.Check the connecting terminal.Check the connector, which goes to the RS232.Try with another wire and see if its working.Or the wire connected loose to 232 port.----

I need a Color Wheel
sending it in for service will cost about $300-400 to fix as I've
already gotten quotes - I figure if I can get a color wheel for <
$100 it's worth it to me since I can install it myself. The dell is
still a nice projector... if I sell it for parts it's worth $100 or
less... if I fix it to work it's worth $400-500... so I figure "why not
try"
Buy another projector. Your current dell model is not worth repairing IMO.
An optoma h70 is a fantastic replacement that will provide far superior performance.
another idea is to try craigs list and look for a dell for a projector for parts.
good luck
Dell 2300MP starts OK and
Its overheating problem.--------
After reading your problem description. It indicates that its not a lamp problem. Its heat problem. Clean the air vents. If the air ventilation is getting blocked then internal temperature gets over heated and the cooling fan is not able to cool that overheated lamp and this shut-off the lamp in the projectors.
The cooling fan regulates the internal temperature, and its performance is automatically controlled. The sound of the fan may change during projector operation due to changes in the fan speed. This does not indicate malfunction. ? Do not unplug the power cord during projection or cooling fan operation. This can create damage due to the rise in internal temperature, as the cooling fan also stops.--------------The ventilation is on the side of the projector. Its like netted thing. You will see. From where the internal hot air gets out.You can use ,air blower and brush to clean the air vents. But many times the internal fan itself gets covered by dust and this reduces the fan speed and so its unable to cool the lamp unit and this shut off the lamp in projector.Clean the dust and see. This will help to solve the lamp shut off problem. ----------------
You can try connecting addition fan/table fan at the back of the unit and see,if that makes a difference. Also you can try fitting the projector near cool place and see,if its making a difference. If will definitely get bit cooler when mounted near window .But the addition fan at the back and sides of the unit will also give same effect ot cooling the internal lamp. And there should be open space beside the projector unit.It should not be placed in con-justed area.It gets over heated due to that also.Placement also makes difference. If the space is very less, then same warm air which is thrown out, will again enter the unit vents and this overheats the lamp and projector shuts off.------- This basic troubleshooting will help out.
------------
But everything inside is proper clean and fan is running in full speed then it can be internal board problem. This board is getting shorted so its turn of the lamp.
Because if lamp is faulty then 99% ,the lamp replacing light gets illuminated on the projector front panel. But if there is no lamp replacing indication then the problem is either overheating problem, due to fan speed low or dirt blocking fan to run or other possibility is internal circuit board faulty. There is 1% chance of faulty lamp. This basic troubleshooting will help out.Thanks.Keep updated. I have a Dell 2300MP DLP projector. It lights up
Looks like there is power supply problem as well as the lamp.
1 Clean all filters
2 Check out power supply (usually a few capasitors need to be replaced)
3 Wuld be a good idea to check the lamp in wokring projector, but if the "Lamp" light is constantly on it is more likely a faulty lamp as well.

Hello
This problem was also faced by me some time ago, i just change the data cable (vga cable) and then it will recognized by system,
i suggest to change the vga cable and try to find the DVI cable if possible to connect the projector to system end.

Have you the right configuration?
If, for instance, the PC is set to 1280 X 800 and your projector is set to 800 X 600 then it will not work properly.
Hope that helps.
