The only possible thing that I could think of is that the 1.5GB hard disk that you installed couple of months ago does not have a program in it.
Once you purchase an NHJ Digital Jukebox, the built-in hard disk has a program that keep the device operational.
Since you could no longer find the manufacturer, you may check with any electronic store if they could install any program in it that would make the device to work again.

Try going to Ebay and buying a battery for the Handspring Treo 300.
They are very inexpensive. The battery is about the same size. The
connector is a little bit different but seems to fit OK. The Treo 300
battery has been working in my VHD-5100 for about a year now.

CHECK THE MEMORY CARD IT MIGHT HAVE GONE BAD. TRY PUTTING ANOTHER MEMORY CARD AND TURN IT ON.
