Casio CTK-691 - can you switch the speakers on when headphones are plugged in?

No, the switching is done by the headphone jack. However if you replace the headphone jack itself ou can install one that makes them both on at the same time but then you couldn't switch the speakers off. Or you can wire a switch into the circuit to do it.

I have a casio WK1300 with only a 2 pin plug. I want to put a 3 pin plug with an earth & fuse. what ampage fuse should I use in the plug, 3,5, or 13amp?

This device operates internally at 12VDC. It can run on D-Cell batteries. It uses a transformer-based power pack to convert A/C to DC for the unit. What possible benefit do you see in converting this (if you even could) to a 3-wire grounded system? There most likely is already a fuse incorporated into the PCB internal to the power pack. You cannot wire A/C directly to the device as it is not internally capable of using the voltage. Any ground that you placed on the device would only be effective to the power pack and would not continue on to the device itself. It seems like a waster of time and effort.

How to convert midi files into smf data files for casio 810in?

i found this for you SMF Converter is software that converts commercially available Standard MIDI file (SMF) data to a format that is supported by CASIO electronic musical instruments, and then transfers the converted data to the instrument. After data is transferred, it can be used with the lesson function for lesson play. For details about using converted data, see the user documentation that comes with each instrument. http://music.casio.com/e/smf click the blue download button near bottom of page.---- not the four other links.

Sound stuttering

Hi, This and a lot of similar keyboards have gold flashed pads on the PCB and the keys press one or two rubber caps, with conductive pads in them, down. Clean the pads with isopropanol, (and nothing else) and it will be cured 99% of the time. If a few notes do not work, especially after heavy use, then the rubber caps can be replaced. Taking the keyboard apart is long winded because of the number of screws involved. The job its self is simple enough, but take note of the order things go in and where the screws go. Hope this helps, Chris.

I can't get power on my Casio lk-50. ? Help

Hi, There are several common reasons why this and most similar keyboards have this problem. If you can fit known good batteries, and it works, this confirms the problems will be with the external power supply or connection. Usually batteries are not available, so....... Do the obvious.
  1. Is the power supply plugged into a known good mains socket?
  2. is the mains socket switched on?
  3. is the power supply plugged into the keyboard?
  4. is the keyboard switched on?
If the power supply is not the one supplied with the keyboard, then check it is compatible. (You do not have to buy an expensive replacement power supply, a universal, regulated one, with a selection of connectors will be fine. Supermarkets and the like sell them.) The manual, or a label on the bottom of the keyboard will tell you the voltage, current consumption, and whether the current is AC or DC. Invariably the current is DC. All the Casios I have are 9 Volts, (9V) and very few are more than 300 milli amps (300mA) More milli amps is fine, so the current can be the same or greater. A TYPICAL power supply is likely to be:-
  • 9 V
  • 300 mA or more
  • DC
BUT DO CHECK Important The power supply needs to be REGULATED. Polarity This is the way round the connector is wired. Usually the center is negative (-) and the barrel is positive (+) This information is molded into the plastic or on a label next to the socket. On a replacement (universal) power supply, there will be a set of connectors, and when you have selected the correct one, the arrow on the end of the lead should point to the correct polarity symbol on the connector. Fault finding The most common fault is the power connector being broken or the solder has been broken. Slowly moving the connector round, to find it works in some positions, is a sure indication that is the fault. Repair is quite simple, but there are a lot of screws to take out. Ideally, drill a hole in the case, where convenient, and fit a metal connector. Now connect to the PCB, in place of the original socket, with flexible wires. Other wise if it is just solder failure, re solder and glue the socket with epoxy resin (Araldite) or hot glue from a glue gun. Hope this helps, Chris.

Looking for a sustaining pedal for the Casio ctk 401 keyboard. What models will be compatible?

They are all compatible. Make sure the port on the keyboard is the same size as the plug on the pedal, usually a phono plug. Also make sure it is a sustain pedal and not an "on off " switch.

I have a Piano from Casio Named The PX830 BP.I also have a Sustain Pedal Model from Casio named the SP 33.Will connecting the SP 33 into the PX830 BP work? Please tell me if I have the wrong model.

Unfortunately, the SP33 pedal will not work with the PX-830BP. Casio lists that the SP33 will only work with the PX-150BK, PX-150WE, PX-160BK, PX-160GD, PX-350BK, PX-350WE, PX- 360, and PX-560 keyboards. The PX-830 manual does not list the stand or the pedal unit as separate items if you need to replace them. The pedal unit has 3 pedals like a traditional piano. I wish that I had better news for you.
