From your description it certainly sounds like the problem is with the security power supply. If the power did drop (brown out) or bump (spike) it certainly would explain the security unit failing. With a UPS on the system though I would not have expected the power to change. You may also have a problem with the UPS which could be causing the problem with your security system. Unfortunately the only way to find out if you have a problem with the UPS is to monitor the output with a recording voltmeter. If you have one I would hook it up to the UPS and monitor the unit for about a week with equipment hooked to the UPS to load it down. If it can survive a week without failing it should be OK. If it doesn't replace it. As far as the security system if it is under warranty I would go to the manufacturer for another unit. If it isn't under warranty I would troubleshoot the power supply, replace the power supply board or take the unit to a shop which can repair it. Usually the schematics can be found for free on line. This will make it easier to troubleshoot.
