Will not read dvd disc
This can be due to dust in the machine, on the disc or surdace damage to the disc.
These are the most common causes anyway.
Clean the disc itself with plain water and wipe with a soft cloth gently to dry it.
Run a CD Cleaner disc in the machine for 30 seconds, and dust off the loading tray/area with a soft brush.
Then try again.
Try other discs to see if the machine is ok - or whether it is the new disc that is faulty.
Smetimes you have to load the disc 3 or more times untill it reads a certain bit of data correctly to start, after this it doesn't seem so important.

Sound but no picture on polaroid television
It is the inverter for the LCD I have the same problem the inverter pt# is UI8007S-1 and they sell on EBAY for 58.00 but I found a web page that will give instructions and a plave in Canada that the person that posted says it should cost about 20.00 I removed the inverter and it has a burnt chip just like the article said. Good Luck!

Remote does not work
try replacing the battery.
What I have done is open up the case and make sure all the water is dry. If not, use a hair dryer to dry it clean, being careful not to 'overheat' the unit in case you burn up any chips on the board.
If this does not work, replace it.

No picture just sound Polaroid 7inch TV/DVD
I owned the under the counter since jan 07 and the same problem. Called poloroid and they said the warranty is only for 3 months. Since I purchased it on ebay they said i have no warranty since i purchased it through a 3rd party. they said they would replace the tv for $60. plus s&h. WOW SOME COMPANIES JUST DON'T STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS. CRAP PRODUCT DON'T BUY IT.

Parental
DVD discs equipped with the child lock function are rated according to their contents and settings vary from disc to disc. Depending on the disc, you can lock out selected scenes or playback of the disc altogether. Access parental control by pressing the left/right (direction buttons together) on the remote control and then press the OK button.

Plugged in, but seemingly no power
I am currently going to school for electronics technician and I have this same set. Mine was working for a while then one day quit so I took it to school and had my teachers help me look at it and mine was doing the same thing it is getting power but the buttons and display arent working but everything else has power. What I found to be wrong is there is a chip underneath the screen that shows you what station yor on. well that chip is fried since it is a cmos chip it can go bad easily with just a lil bit of a power suge the only way to fix it is to replace the board it is on.

No picture
Same problem. No picture and lost the remote. How can I fix it? Can i get the picture back by programming it hte unit itself and how?

Hi everyone, I
don't know if you have solved your issues yet or not, since these posts are from a while ago, but I have had the same issue. The problem is that of the
back-light inverter circuit. The original part is defective and the chip that powers the coils will continually burn out. You can pick up a cheaper replacement substitute here:

The part can be found just behind the screen on the bottom if you take the back panel of the screen off.
