Shorted components inside the amp or the speaker it was hooked to could be shorting the voice coil.

If this model is a pre HD model, you must remove the bottom cover and there are 4 fuses inside the amp on the circuit board.

Is it going into thermal protect or short circuit protect?

Are you running the amp bridged mono or in stereo?

Are they in the manufacturer's recommended enclosure size?

It can't be done unless you choose to include some power resistors in your circuit for impedance matching. The problem with that would be some of your power will be lost in the form of heat across the resistors without the benefit of contributing any sound. Also, the amplifier's damping factor will be compromised, so you may notice a loss in sound clarity. It's possible that you might not easily tell with subwoofers, depending on the enclosures they're mounted in, and whether they're isolated in a trunk vs being in the same airspace with you (hatchback, SUV, or pickup truck). You have shorted outputs that are causing this. The amp will have to be repaired. I can repair it for you.

There are no internal fuses on this amplifier.

Could have shorted an op-amps on one of the cards.

You will have to check the schematics. Some amps are but some are not.

It is a low voltage warning beep. They will beep even with the slightest voltage dip. Very annoying. You may be able to go into the set up menu and turn it off or lower the volume of the beep.

Do you have the blue remote wire properly hooked up on both ends?

Question: what starts to smoke, the speaker or the amp? I'm assuming it's the amp. It cant be a fuse because that's what fuses are for to cut the power on an overload or surge. I would have a look at you circuit board for the amp My guess is what you;ll find is a burnt spot on the board and that will tell you what component is bad and needs replacing. Good Luck
