Yep. U had a software issue initially - there was nada wrong with your bios. Apparently, the bios update did not go well and now you have a piece of junk on our hands. Without a proper working bios no computer will boot up. And on a laptop the bios chip is usu.ally soldered on the motherboard so it cannot be readily removed and replaced. Time to go shopping.

Computer does not boot up The problem maybe the RAM, it could be faulty or just needs reseating to make proper electrical contact. Reseat the RAM and then boot up your laptop. If it still does not boot up then remove the RAM module/s and take them to your friendly computer repair shop and get them to test the RAM for you. Just like you sometimes need a mechanic to repair your car, sometimes you do need a technician to diagnose and identify the fault or faults on your computer. Not only does a good service technican have the experience to deal with this type of problem, they also have the equipment that allows them to look at things the average computer user can't see, and he has a collection of replacement parts that can be used to quickly test individual components on your computer.

Welcome to Fixya. Basically with the replacement of part on the computer it is always recommended to use a compatible parts from the manufacturer itself so that you will have a good quality and compatibility. I would recommend to get 1 from Toshiba that is made compatible to the computer than buying a generic product. The parts of the 2 products are different since only toshiba knows the specific parts of the power supply and another thing that you need to keep in mind is that when you purchase a generic product it might damage the computer since the parts did not came from toshiba. And generic products are really not that as good as the original one.
If you have questions please let me know. Thanks

On a lot of laptops there is a switch on the side or front of the laptop facing. If not then there might be a FN+key to access it. And by that I mean that you have to hold down the FN key and press the corresponding F# key to activate it. Such as FN+F6. Most of the time the Wifi logo looks like an antenna with waves coming out of the top of it.

Best of luck

Just like other computers, your Toshiba laptop may start failing to boot the operating system completely, or may fail to boot up at all. Boot problems are caused by virus infections and issues related to hardware and software. With the proper troubleshooting techniques, boot problems can be remedied to get the laptop into good working condition.

1. Perform initial hardware checks. Ensure that the laptop has enough battery life to boot up. Charge the laptop using its AC adapter and then try to boot the laptop again. If nothing happens, plug the AC adapter into another power outlet. If this does not help, check to see if external drives (flash drive, external hard drive, etc.) are connected into one of your USB ports. Unplug it from the laptop and press the laptop's power button. If the laptop powers on but fails to load the operating system, proceed to the next step.

2. Ensure that the hard disk is not disabled in the boot sequence in your BIOS. Otherwise, the laptop will fail to fully boot the operating system. Reboot the computer and press a key that will lead you to the BIOS page. Set your hard disk as your "first boot priority," or first in the "boot sequence." Note that the steps on loading the BIOS as well as navigating throughout the BIOS pages will depend on what brand of BIOS is installed in your laptop.

3. Choose boot to the "Last known good configuration" if you get an error page before the operating system boots up. If after choosing this option the computer reboots again, choose "Start Windows Normally," if this is in the list of options.

4. Consider repairing or reinstalling the operating system if the computer still fails to boot after the steps above. Repairing the operating system will retain your current data and settings. Reinstalling the operating system means reformatting or deleting all data in your computer and installing a fresh copy of the operating system.

I hope you find it very helpful. Best regards from fixya

Hello, try downloading the latest BIOS for your PC. I will provide a link if you find any difficulty in doing so. Link: http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/modelContent.jsp?ct=DL&os=&category=&moid=2759674&rpn=PSAW3U&modelFilter=A665-S6089&selCategory=2756709&selFamily=1073768663

If the above solution doesn't work try downloading the latest release for the driver chipset this can also be found under the above link.

If this model Toshiba laptop has ventilation vents on the bottom of the laptop, use the laptop on a flat surface so the laptop get adequate ventilation OR get a fan assisted laptop cooling pad and place the laptop on the cooling pad for additional cooling.
The fault could be a faulty fan, as the laptop is still under warranty, get it repaired. If you try to fix it yourself you will void your warramry..

Regarding your concern, you are missing a driver which is called the Toshiba Service station.
  1. Click this link http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/modelContent.jsp?ct=DL&os=&category=&moid=2759674&rpn=PSAW3U&modelFilter=&selCategory=2756709&selFamily=1073768663.
  2. Click on Download Now.
  3. Allow the download to finish.
  4. Restart the computer.
There, you should have made it work after reinstalling the driver for it. However if it doesn't work, you have to get it serviced for it is a possible motherboard issue. I really do hope this works and we do not have a motherboard issue so we can make everything on your computer respond. Thank you for choosing FixYa!
