If the screen doesnt display any funny rectangles or freezes, you should be ok. The heat wount kill the card, cause yours already has a overheat protection in the chip.

and also check in the BIOS does the harddisk drive or the cd/dvd drive are detected or not ....
if it is not detected then remove the IDE bus from the particlular device and then reinsert it ....
