Archos 70 android tablet Notebook - Answered Questions & Fixed issues

I have the 8gig Archos 70, the whole thing froze as described in other posts. The solution is not for the feint of heart though. Mine would do absolutely nothing. So what the heck, I opened it up (nothing to lose at this point). Messed about a bit. Read that when it "Bricks" like this there is nothing that can be done. If it is Bricked, something locks it in the memory and function. As long as the battery is connected, it will remain that way no matter what. Solution. Cut the black power wire from the battery (there are three long wires red white and black), leave for 20 minute, and solder the wire back together and heat shrink the joint. Reassemble, plug in power cord and it should reboot...My archos is about 3-4 years old, and is mounted to the wall in my kitchen for use as an internet radio

This is how I solved the problem with the touch panel as of this time....

The first solution, the additional cable from Archos website or manual

Attach this cable to the archos, wait for a 10 seconds then the touch screen would work. If the cable won't work attach a wired mouse.

The second solution is a female to female usb. (If you don't have the additional cable from the website or the manual.)

Attached the cable that comes with your archos then the female to female usb adaptor, wait for a few seconds then the touch panel would work again. If it doesn't work attach the wired mouse wait for a few seconds until the archos recognizes the wired mouse. (

I hope this works to all archos.

Go to the Archos website and put in your model number. See if the owner's manual is available, then download it. Read it carefully...it ain't rocket science!

Depends on what type of ports your Computer has and what type of ports your TV has. The easiest connection is to try to connect using the ports that they both have. Otherwise, if they have different ports then you will need some type of converter that goes between the two of them to make them communicate.Most computers have a VGA port, does the TV have a VGA Port? New computers have a HDMI port, does the TV have a HDMI Port? If so you the connections that are alike or you will need a converter.Once you have them connected, you just have to select the Input on the TV. Most times if you use VGA then you select PC or Computer as the input. There should be an HDMI input selection if you use HDMI connections.Reboot the computer and the display might appear on the tv. If not you will have to hit some keystrokes to toggle the display between the computer and the tv. Most times on the computer you will hit the FN function key and one of the F1 thru F12 keys that controls the display on an external. The correct F1 thru F12 key will have LCD/CRT on it or it will have the icon of a display. Press and Hold the FN function key then hit the correct Function key (F1 thru F12) that toggles the display.

there are three things involved. Problem is either from the charger, or battery or charging port.
Charger:
A defective charge can cause a unit not to charge. To actually find out if your charger is defective or not, borrow a charger from a family or friend that has the type of your tablet PC, use the borrowed charger to on your tablet PC. If the the tablet PC charges, then obviously, your charger is defective and need to be replaced. It is also good to test your charger on another tablet PC to confirm the status of the charger.
Make sure you run the above test, before buying another charger so that you don't waste your money. Sometimes, charger might be working and tablet PC won't charge due to some other reasons that would be discussed below. So confirm first before buying another charger. Don't buy another charged based on assumptions........ A battery that is very flat, I mean a battery that its cell is very weak, won't charge with a phone charger. You might have to leave the battery in the phone with the charge plugged in for some minutes or hours before the battery will begin to charge and other times, it might not charge at all.
Battery
What make batteries to be in this kind of condition is;
1. If you use you tablet PC to the point when it says "low battery" and you still don't charge the battery and the unit turns off by itself. This can run down a battery cell. 2. If you leave a battery in the tablet PC idle for days or months, the battery cell will become weak. Or if you leave a battery used for days or months. 3. If you don't use the correct/right charger for your tablet PC, this can drain the battery instead of charging it.
Batteries in such condition will have to be fast charged with a desktop charger. The desktop charger will be connected directly to the battery and the battery will definitely pick up within 1 hour. Thereafter, you can continue charging it with your tablet PC charger and it will charge immediately.
But if the battery is defective, it won't charge at all. Even if you use a desktop charger. Such batteries needs to be replaced. Also, it is good to test the tablet PC with another battery, and charge it to confirm before buying another battery.
Charging port:
If non of the above seems to be the reason why your tablet PC won't charger, then it means the charging port is defective.
Most times defective charging port confuses people. They think the charger is the reason why their unit won't charge and after using another charger on the unit they still find out that it still does not charge.
Once your tablet PC doesn't charge, the first thing you test is the charger and second, the battery. But if the battery and charger seems not to be the cause of the problem, then it is the charging port that is cause the problem.
Your charging port might not be defective, maybe it loosed contact with the phone phone or it shifted from it's position. Sometimes, the way we forcefully insert our charger into the tablet PC can make the charging port loose contact.
At this point, you will have to disassemble your tablet PC. But if you feel it is a task you cannot perform yourself, then take it to a repairman to help you out. But if you feel you can do it yourself (DIY), read further.
Turn off the tablet PC. Remove the battery. After that, get a screw driver, unscrew all the tablet PC screws, remove the tablet PC's cover in order to gain access to the panel and get to the charging port.
Check if the charging port actually loosed contact. If it didn't loose contact, then you will have to replace the charging port.
Note that some charging port are soldered to the tablet PC board and some are not. So if yours is not soldered, simply remove the charging port and make a replacement. But if is soldered, you will be needing a rework station. Rework station is what you will use to remove the charging port.
Have the above checked.

Check the driver for teh wireless card of the Arcos..and you knwo it works for sure cause you used it in another connection ..than the issue must be on the router ..get into the settings by typing the router's IP address into the browser address bar..and on the wireless settings ..enable the network ..change the channel with a middle one if it is the case and save the settings .For begining I suggest to remove any password for the wireless network to simplify the connection process..Also if you know a hot spot or you have access to another wireless connection try the tablet just to be sure it do nto have issues with the drivers or functionality of the wireless card ..(do not forget to enable the wireless card if it has a button for that )
