The best before date on bottled water
Water seems like a commodity that can't go bad, so what is up with the best before dates that companies are printing on their labels? Do they really mean anything? After some research I have found that there is no rule from the FDA that water bottle companies are required to print a best before date. What these dates indicate is that the best quality of the water will be before this date. You will find that when you put water in a bottle after a few days or a while the water will start to taste a little different. Some times if the water tastes different after the best before date this is an indicator of the chemicals from the plastic leaching into the water. This causes some health concerns, but the chemicals don't really need a lot of time to leach into the water. You will notice that nothing grows in a sealed water bottle but within 2 weeks of opening it you should drink it or toss it because it can start to grow bacteria or mold.
