try hooking it up to a computer and syncing it with windows media player.

Double check that the batteries are installed correctly. It happens. Try a new set of batteries. Make sure the terminals are clean. A pencil eraser can clean them up for you. If all that fails I would have to wonder if a defect may have occurred. Good luck.

the answer is yes. Your mp3 player is corrupted. It must have gotten virus from the computer you used in download songs to it.

The start-up files of the OS (Operating system) of your player is corrupted.

To fix this, you need to do a firmware update. The previous version will be deleted and a newer one will be installed. By so doing, your player will be back to normal.

Can you specify the exact modl of your MP3 player?
What exactly are you trying to do?
Why do you insisnt on downloading/synchronizing the songs with iMesh, instead using Windows Media Player or simply Windows Explorer (i.e. copy/paste)?

Are you running Windows 7 on your new computer? Some versions of it are not backwards compatible since they are 64 bit Windows, and the older Windows systems are 32 bit.
Does Windows recognize it when you plug it into the usb?
Couldn't find any reports of this on the web, so I'm not sure what's going on.
You might go by Best Buy and talk to their techs about the problem. They're usually up to date on things, and may have a fix.

I had same problem with this mp3 player bought for 5 euros in china shop. After a headcake on why you couldn't format the mamory because of a lock on it i tryed to update my 1.66 firmware with the 1.68 and averything come fixed.
It would take a long time and the pc will slow down but let it do it and it will go. (i had to do it twice).

the file is called PDP95XX_FWUpgrade_v1.68.exe on google.

i could be ok take the batteries out,then wash out properly with warm water and let it dry out fully near a radiator for a couple of days and try it then. It has worked for me everytime if you have the knowhow and the tools to take it apart then do so it will speed up the whole process
