maybe the membrane pad is defective. have it cleaned or call someone to open it and clean.

make sure the fax machine slot is not short .remove all the parale line connection and just conncet the fax in to line and check you are gettting the dial tone.

try looking at 1 of 2 slate-blue retaining clips that secure the thermal cartridge in place on the side that is NOT printing.
it could be broken.
it will need to removed to see any cracks or breakage.

When you change the black film, you unlatch the head unit and swing it up and out of the way, then snap it back down over the new film. One of those latch hooks is cracked. It holds the head down, but not tightly enough to press the film against the paper. Pry at the hook with your fingernail, and you'll see the crack. The hooks are pretty cheap and easy to replace. Part numbers are Left (your left, as you're facing the front of the machine): UF6085001 Right: UF6087001

I have the same problem with my 1950MC. When I examined the blue lever carefully on the right side of the machine I found that the plastic lever was cracked at its thinnest point. Thus when both levers are locked down that one was not holding the print head tightly enough to print that side of the paper. If I held the print head down manually, the copy printed fine. So if you have this problem, check the blue levers for cracks. The levers are easy to remove and should not cost very much. I recommend that you replace both left and right levers. These plastic parts cannot stand up to very much use without cracking.

You can set the machine to print out a confirmation that the fax went through successfully. Check the fax settings in your manual.

Sounds like print heads are fried. I found this guys website [email protected] he says he has lots of brother parts and his rating is good. Otherwise you might have an auction of your own to sell your PC101 carts. As far as your Ebay problem, that's why they have a dispute department and feedback. Good luck

I would suggest unplugging the unit and let it sit for about 15 minutes. Make sure there are no paper jams, and then plug it back in and turn it on. Also, check the phone line with another phone instrument.
Make sure to put the phone wire back in the right port.

Plug in and power the unit back on and test it.

If it is still failing, then I am sorry to say that it might be time to get a new unit.

check for any papaer jam or any dust material blocking the rollers of the printer to move.OFF the printer.and blow air through the blower in whole internal area off the printer.then ON and check.

Listen, my friend had the same problem with his MFC 1950MC: "... have a Brother MFC 1950MC fax machine. I bought it used because I can't afford to buy a new one. I was told it was ok but it's not. It prints on only the right half of the paper. I was told by a 3 different authorized service centers that it's a common problem and requires a specific part that almost always fixes the problem. But, they won't tell me the part number or sell it to me. I think I found someone who will sell me the part if I can give them a part number. Anybody have any knowledge of this problem? You can download the driver for this machine from http://www.printcountry.com/drivers/brother_drivers.asp (other sources may available if you search on the internet) once you have the driver downloaded simply install it and you should be good to go.
