Re: How can I get the volume control on my FiOS remote to change the volume on my AV receiver?
  1. Hold down the STB button on your remote control, and press OK. Release both buttons.
  2. Key in 9-5-5.
  3. Press the device button whose volume you want to control by default (in this case, AUX).
  4. Press OK.

Hi.

Unplug all cables except the power cable, turn it on and see if you still have the green line. If without any image input, the line is there, you have a faulty LEDTV. If it goes away, it's the cable/connector you will need.

Kind regards.

If one of the led lights in back light strip fails, the power supply senses the current change and shuts down. The LED strips have to be tested to see which one failed.

There is no one answer that fits all any number of defective parts can cause this, supplest you have it diagnosed, do not start buying parts.

Using a technician is by far the cheapest option, but take it to his workshop. That will save you $150. If the set is over 10 years old, you need a new one.

What we see here on Fixya all the time is that people end up replacing all the boards and the set still doesn't work. The problem is that the boards you are buying are out of scrapped sets and aren't tested.

Hello John

It's not the answer you want, but I am sure you will agree with the sentiment from your own experiences. Faulty replacement parts is the issue.

Here is a question that we see often.
Question:

I've replaced everything in my television because it previously had a black screen with no lighting. Now it doesn't turn on at all and all I have is audio. What could be the cause ?

So your television stops working properly and you think it must be easy to fix, because you can buy boards on eBay, and you can watch YouTube videos. So you make a decision, you buy a board and you fit it, but the television still doesn't work! This is a classic case of the 'let's try replacing this' method of television repair and illustrates why it is a bad idea. It doesn't work for a number of reasons. To correctly diagnose issues, you need to know every board, what is does and every component on the board. You need to know which part has failed, replace the component, or replace the board. The parts you purchased off eBay were probably out of scrapped sets and not tested. The part you put in was dead when you put it in, so you just moved on to another guess at what might be the cause and replace a board that is fine. And so it goes on, you change all the boards and it still doesn't work. Did you notice the large print that says 'No Refunds, NO Returns'. This is to stop you sending your old one back and saying it didn't work, but the unscrupulous use it as an excuse to get money for selling items that may not work! The course to be a television engineer is 2 years full time education, take it to someone that knows how to diagnose and fix. It is by far the cheapest option. The part that failed might be a 20 cents fuse diode hard soldered to a board. They will charge you $2 parts and an hours labour.

This drives me nuts on my Samsung. Also, I have automatic firmware updates installed which has throttled my TV. Navigating between menus is a lot slower than what it used to be (bought the TV in 2016).

Plasma televisions are hard to get parts for because they are obsolete. Parts may be more expensive than a new LED television.

possibly the switch is faulty, i would think, have to be inspected by qualified engineer, might be more financially better option to get new TV

someone has to open the unit to see if something (a disc or something else) is jammed--mechanism could be jammed or out of alignment.

Often if the disc is jammed it can gently be moved to let the unit work again.
