Should go to coax fitting depending on output from sat---if there on catv and usually channel 3 or 4 whatever sat is set to out.Via the audio/video out to the same in on the set it goes to video.

You have several bad capacitors in your TV. There are in the deflection side of the board. I think there are three here. And check the vertical section, as there are three bad caps. You will need an ESR meter to find and replace these capacitors. The older Zenith are known for shut down due to weak and bad caps. Hope this clues you into the fix. That's not a good sign. There are a number of parts in any TV that can put on quite a show when they fail. In many Zenith models, picture tube failure can cause this when high voltage gets back onto the circuit board. The glow you mentioned, if it was on the screen, is one symptom of such a failure.
Having this repaired is uneconomical. Labor alone may be $60 or more (I'm sure it will be...our shop charged that for a complex repair when I left the service business almost 10 years ago) and then you need parts. The repair bill could easily approach replacement cost, especially if it is the picture tube (and then it would cost more to repair than replace).
Use this as an excuse to treat yourself to a new TV. There's almost always a sale somewhere on small flat-screen models.
Sounds like tyo me that the picture tube is getting soft on ya!!. Its a common factor that occours with all tvs but mostly with zenith. A service tech might be able for a small fee rejuvinate the picture tube but theres never a warrantee with this type repair. Its not something a user should attemp to do as theres hi voltage inside this set even on the tube socket after its ubplugged for awhile. Seek the advise of a repair pro to see how bad the tube is. YES I HAVE HAD THIS TWICE AND NOW THEY TELL ME THAT THE CARD CAN NOT BE REPAIRED AGAIN. THE CARD HOOKS TO THE BACK OF THE PICTURE TUBE. I CAN NOT FIND A REPLACEMENT SO PUT IN THE TRASH.
sounds like the typical power supply or sweep problem in the zenith chassis. depending on how old this set is will determin if its even worth trouble shooting or taking it in to be looked at by a pro. If your not experienced with tv repair i would call a repair shop or take it in as tv sets have high voltage stored in them even after they have been unplugged for a while. If youve tinkered with tvs in the past or know someone who does zenith tvs are made for a complete chassis exchange. you can Call PTS Corp at 1 800 844 7872 and see how much an exchanged referbished chassis would cost and go from there.
