How do you reset light engine

If its possible you will need to locate a service manual to do it---a reset is available only on some sets and will not cure screen defects---only thing I have encountered is if it has one--it will correct communication issues between the engine and main chassis.

Rear projection tv trouble

Replace it. It is not worth the approx $600.00 to repair, new 46" LCD flat go for less then that. Check Costco and Best Buy have great prices. Also the color and clarity of the newer flats is far superior to any rear projection.

No picture no sound

The cost to repair (about $600) this problem will be close to the cost to replace it. I advise you to look for one of the new LCD flat screens, a 46 inch can be had for about $500 if you watch the sales.

The lamp went out in

Hi,

Yes, the procedure you've entered, pressing the "?" key at the remote control at standby mode, follow by pressing 9,8,7,6 is correct to reset the lamp timer.

Another is by pressing and holding the "Menu" key at the remote control until the "OSD" (on screen display) menu disappears follow by pressing 9,8,7,6.

If the unit still keeps turning off, let me know which led light(Operation, Lamp, temperature) at the front panel lit solid/blink and its color to determine where the fault came from.

sounds like your light engine is the problem. (optical block) there is a serious of light paths and one of the path is the problem. it can be the a light filter or lcd panel. sorry to bring bad news but this is not a DIY repair unless you are very good in electronics and light filtering plus panel aliment. plus finding those part is very hard. there are places that you can send the engine out to be rebuilt but they are expensive. (250-1000 dollars) sorry for the bad news. i had a sony that was doing the same thing and i kept calling them and they finally sent me a new tv free of charge. hope this helps you out.
