Press "display" and make sure the radio is displaying frequency, not time. Tune the radio frequency you want to add to memory. Press "Memo Set" and observe that "preset" flashes on the display. Press the number of the memory channel that you want to save to. Press "Memo Set" and observe that "preset" on the display has stopped flashing. The frequency is now saved the selected channel.

Disconnect your speakers when unit off and cold. Turn unit on and wait. If unit stays on, check speaker wiring for damage. Connect one speaker at a time with unit off and retest to find either a bad speaker or output channel problem. Repair speakers and wiring if found, or take unit for service, you have an overload problem.

Cassette tapes began to supplant 8 track in the mid 70's, so this is probably a transitional unit. Kind of like now - there are DVD players out there that still have VHS slots. I'd say late 70's and I'd guess no tubes.

remove the flat rubber platen cover to expose the lock ring at center (horseshoe clip) remove this lock ring and pull the platen straight up and off , under there you should find a rubber tire and the drive motor shaft , turn unit on , you should see motor turn and then it should move rubber tire , if not , your going to need to replace it or clean it up and lube it
