Connect pioneer vsx-9700s receiver to tech.equalizer??

If there is no rca connection on the back labeled something like "external processor" then it could probably go through a tape loop. At least that's the way it used to be done last millenia. ;)

Best amps for bose 901

You need an amplifier with at least 200 wpc to get the most out of your BOSE. Look into getting a NAD, ADCOM or CARVER amplifier. I prefer CARVER myself. I am running a CARVER M-500T(251 wpc) on my 901's and they sound incredible.

What is a good placement for the 901 series VI speakers? I've heard the backwall is half the distance to the sidewall

Depends on the shape and contents of the room. Look up "best acoustic placement of speakers" in your web browser. Good Luck!

What would be the correct placement of the Bose 901 series VI?

This fully depends on the room. If it is a simple square room, set the front speakers left and right about 2 meters from your TV, try to do the same at the back. Point them slightly into your direction and try if this sounds good for you. If not you could try to turn them.

Can bose 901 VI beplayed at outdoor parties as suggested in mannual

Of course, however, since the speaker cones are paper, it would be wise to protect them from moisture (rain, pool splash, etc.) as the speaker cloth will not do this. Also, the wood used in the cabinetry is veneer and would de-laminate if exposed to moisture for extended periods.

Can the 901 VI be usedoutdoors

If it was near the ocean/beach, or in the rain, I wouldn't do it. But otherwise, there should be no problem using the 901s outdoors. However, you will likely need to rotate the speakers 180 degrees, so the 8 drivers are facing the listening area, as the speakers will probably not be positioned near back/side walls and thus will not be able to take advantage of the reflective portion of the direct/reflective listening experience.

Bose 901 equilizer connections to sansui G901DB

It sounds like you may have only the 901 loudspeakers, and not also the companion 901 equalizer box. You must install the 901 equalizer properly--using the tape monitor loop of the G901 receiver. If you of not, the 901 loudspeakers will perform poorly.

Compatable receiver list for Bose 901 series VI

I contacted the Customer support folks at Bose. Here is what they said: With a stereo receiver, the equalizer is run through the tape monitor section in the back of the receiver. The receiver's tape monitor output, left and right, runs to the amp input section of the equalizer, left and right. Then the amp output section of the equalizer, left and right, runs to the receiver's tape monitor input section. With a surround sound, home theater, type of receiver, the theory is the same, but the connection is through the preamp-out/ main amp-in section of the receiver. Not all receivers have this feature. Most, in fact, do not. Check the back of the receiver. There would be a connection made by two U-shaped clips. The plugs would be pulled out. Then connect from the preamp-out to the equalizer's amp input section; and from the equalizer's amp output section to the main amp-in. This effectively isolates the equalizer so that it is not affecting the other speakers in the system or the receiver's surround processing. Attached is a current list of known 901-home theater compatible receivers:
Note: Specifications subject to change without notice. Bose Corporation is not responsible for any inaccuracies due to manufacturer changes. Inclusion in this list does not indicate an endorsement by Bose Corporation. When in doubt contact the manufacturer of the equipment.

I have the list in a pdf document but do not see a way to attach it.

I have a set of 901 IV with no equializer, I am

As far as I know, any equalizer will work. There is a guy on here that might know more about them, but I never had the Bose equalizer and I have Bose speakers for 35 years. The guy at the electronic store back then sold us a little equalizer at first, we graduated from that a long time ago, and now on the 3rd or 4th one. No problem, works great, sounds better than ever. Hope this helps.

Just purchased Sony DA5800 ES reciever will my Bose 901 speakers work with this? Need help

Bose 901 speakers are designed to use with the Bose equaliser patched between the pre-amplifier out and power-amplifier in of your receiver. Having said that, Bose did not invent EQ, neither is EQ a mystical process. Not sure which series 901s you are talking about, but I would definitely be experimenting with the built-in EQ supplied with your Sony DA5800 ES. The manual says you have +/- 10 dB of adjustment for treble and bass for each of the surround channels. That is not really adequate in my opinion, not only would I be seeking +/- 15 dB, but I would also like to be able to apply those adjustments at frequencies chosen by me, not just 'treble' and 'bass' To use the Bose EQ, it needs to be patched between a preamp output and power amp input. The Sony DA5800 ES has preamp outputs, so you could use these (Note that the built-in EQ is disabled when using these outputs) In this case you could either feed the signals back into the Sony (post Bose EQ) perhaps using a different 'Zone'. As an alternative option, you could power your 901's with a stand-alone two channel power amplifier. Then you get the full benefit of the Bose EQ as well as the surround sound from your Sony (front L+R speakers off) It all sounds like a lot of fun. Happy listening! Cheers, Don.

How to connect 901 equalizer to a Pioneer VSX 47TX

I have a VSX-36TX so this is how it's going to work...

You will need a separate stereo amplifier for the 901's to accomodate the need for the Active EQ. There is no way to separate your receiver's front L&R channel preamplifiers from their amplifiers.

I run a Carver AV-406 (5-channel amp) for my 901's in Front, 2 Subwoofers and the Rear Surround channel, with the Active EQ between the receiver and the 901's amp channels. My receiver controls everything and just drives the Center and Surrounds. You would probably just get a nice 2-channel amplier for the 901's. However, the VSX 47TX doesn't provide power for a Subwoofer, should you decide to get one, so you would need another amplifier channel for that, too. Therefore, you might look around for a powerful 3- or 4-channel amplifier so you could drive the Sub, too.

Modest amps would work but at very loud volumes may go into clipping, which is bad for any speaker. I'm using only 100W for mine and it has plenty of steam for the 901's.

For connection I would run a pair of RCA cables from the Front L&R Audio Line OUT to the Active EQ's Line IN; then the EQ's Line OUT to a separate amp's Line IN. Attach the 901's to the new amp, run through the receiver's setup procedures for volume, etc and you're done.

Not what you might want to hear but 901's have special requirements. I've had mine for 25 years and have no regrets.

A separate subwoofer channel on the amp could be used. Just run a single RCA channel from Sub OUT to one available channel IN on the amp and attach the subwoofer to it. Two would work, also. That's what I do. You could use a 1-2 RCA splitter to feed two avaailable channels on a 4-channel amp. The iterations are many. Have fun.

I'm trying to hook up a Carver HR-752 to Bose 901's series VI, I would like to use the preamp out and in on the back, do I need a seperate amp to use these? I have them going through the Tape

To setup the Bose 901's so that all of your connected equipment's sound (cable/dvd/games/stereo/etc) comes out of the 901's.If you already have a receiver with front left and right pre-outs, I would add an amplifier. (other option is a pre-amp) Use the amplifier to create the loop the 901's need w/ their EQ and it will also add a cleaner sound and added power. That's how you can really make the Bose 901's sound amazing.

Speakers rattle and Low end is gone

Hi!

The good news is yes, they most likely can be repaired. I owned a pair of 802's (their professional line, but very similar to your speakers) and repaired them myself.

Since you have a warranty, I'd suggest contacting Bose to find the nearest service center.

Email [email protected] or call them toll-free and talk with a Bose Support Specialist to determine the service options for your product.

In the US: 1-877-210-3782
Monday Friday: 8:30 AM 9:00 PM ET
Saturday: 9:00 AM 6:00 PM ET

If you can't find a nearby service center, you may be able to contact a local stereo store and ask them about service. The 901's were a very popular speaker, and if you live near a large metropolitan area, you should have no problem finding someone to help you fix them.

If this was helpful, would you please rate it as such?

I have a jvc home

Turn off power, unplugg unit, very carefully check speaker wire connections making sure no wires are touching each other or the back of the unit same at speakers connections. Also check speakers. Blown drivers can short terminals internally. This is the most likely problem. Remove the short, unit will come back on
