Try connecting the Adaptor directly to the battery and charge it for 4-5 hrs and that should work...

you make new 9 volt charger purchase new changing pin compatible 1700 dvd player and operate it

check if

* might the flex connector/cable is dis-align or got loose contact.

* LCD components (some parts) are curroded and need to be clean

if you do it on your own,take a little care of opening it.

On Top (LCD screen housing) : just use a guitar peak in between the housing

On Bottom (Circuit boat) : unscrew all side and corner of it..(beware of hidden wires and flex connectors.

* using hot air or a hair blower... target the LCD components attach at the back of the screen,maintain the temp cause my burn the screen and assemble it properly and fit each socket.

if you got the same problem... might need a replacement and bring it to a authorized service center...

There is a small switch on the right side where all the audio/video ports are. If that switch is forward in the "video-out" mode, the onboard (TFT) screen is shut off. Move the switch back to "TFT" mode. Hope this helps.

Optical lens problem. I assume ure not a pro in repairing it, so send it for repair to local tech. Before u do that, get a lens cleaning kit and clean your optical lens. Usually the optical lens cleaning kit comes with a cd and solution. Use it according to the instruction manual. If still the same, then send it to tech for repair.

I can see that it is not powering up?

The charger=look on side of durabrand where power plug should go.there s/b somethine like [C+] or[ c-]
it is not really the letter C but the symbol of the outer rim of the plug that goes into DVD player.[C+] means that the outer shell of THE PLUG is negative (-) with the INSIDE being positive (+) with respect to a battery. [C-] again, the outer connection is (+) pos., inner connection (-) neg.
Look for power rating, as an EXAMPLE ( 5v at 1.5a [5 volts at 1.5 ampers]

1. Turn on the DVD player.
2. Press "Setup"
3. Go to "Preferences".
4. Press "Play"
5. Enter 2-5-1-5-3-5 (251535 in continuous sequence of keys on the remote) Nothing will show on the screen.
6. Press "Left" then press "Down"
The current region code will be displayed.
7. Press "0" for region free.

I have just done this on mine and it worked perfectly.

You can trick the player into thinking the cover is closed and still play DVD's.
Open the lid and notice the small button on the top right side. Pressing the button will simulate the "lid down" so the disks will play.
You can even see the cool red laser when there is no disk. 

There are 3 or 4 chargers listed on ebay.

I have the same DVD player and it no longer works. The battery worked just fine a month ago when I used it last, but now the player won't power on. It appears to be a problem with the "on" switch.

turn on the power and open the dvd axcess door, inside where the dvd goes is a small little push down switch, push this down, it is in the upper right side. this will let you see if the laser is powering up,if you see no red light ,your laser is bad. hope this helps
