you have a Philco, TV\VCR Combo Your problem is the VCR.The rubber band that pulls in the Vhs tape and kicks it out is stretched,
or damaged. The TV turns off to protect itself. You need a replacement. If u know how to get inside, look at the right side of the VHS section [you will be facing the back of the TV] be careful! "Electricity HURTS. It will be very hard to find the replacement VHS rubber band. There are 3 bands, replace them ALL!!, not just the damaged one.
Symphonic sc1304, vcr problem
Pulley belt stretched, replace.
Remove the back cover to tv, slide the chassis
out, remove speaker connector, and other ones
to allow the chassis to be out away from cabinet to take the metal cover off surrouding the vcr unit. Usually a couple of screws that hold
the whole vcr unit in, remove these, lift the
unit from the chassis carefully and check the
belt as it is stretched and not making tight
grip on the white pulleys that perform the
mechanical functions of the VCR. When putting
back together, and replaced the belt be sure to
lift the vcr door inward before sliding the
chassis back into cabinet so the door latch
will open and close properly, otherwise you
put a tape in and the door won't open back up.
VCR isn't work, can you help?
Nancy,
From the sounds of it either the supply or takeup reel is not working and may be damaged. In fact that may be the reason you couldn't get the tape out... If the takeup reel doesn't spin there is a small sensor below it that recognizes that there is a malfunction and shuts the system down. That's usually far cheaper than unloading a whole tape inside or do some serious damage.
This unit is similar in design and electronics as the Funai F3813C and Sylvania 3813LC, W3813LC, Symphonic WS3813C and a Magnavox CCz132. That said, I have worked on a few of the comparable models for something quite similar and it has never been a real expensive repair. i'd guess this one would be under $80 dollars. Just find a reputable shop to take it to...
If you not sure where to find one goto:
http://www.nesda.com/locator/state_search.php
and type in your info. That's the National Electronic Service Dealer's Assn. Kinda like going to the AMA to find a doctor...
Good Luck

Picture problems
you have a vert sweep colapse. Fisrt thing is to get a schematic diagram and find the vert. output Ic and the clamper diode. Measure the voltage on both sides. If its low then its apossibility that the Ic was drawing loads of current and blew out the b+ feed resistor. Look on the schematic and trace back the voltage line from the vert output ic back to the sweep power supply on the secondary of the flyback transformer. check the limiter resistor to the feed and if its open replace the cap right there the resistor as well as the vertical output Ic ALL AT ONCE!!! If you dont you will cause it to go out again in a short time. Good Luck.. If you post the vert part of the schematic I will be more then happy to assist you with this repair.
When I turn on my symphonic tv I just get snow and no sound
If you are seeing snow on your Symphonic TV screen, it could indicate that the TV is not receiving a signal from your cable or antenna. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:
- Check the cable or antenna connection: Ensure that the coaxial cable or antenna is securely connected to the TV and the wall or source.
- Run a channel scan: Perform a channel scan or auto-programming to ensure that the TV is tuned to the correct channels and that it is receiving a signal.
- Check the TV's settings: Make sure that the TV's input is set to the correct source, such as cable or antenna. Also, ensure that the TV's settings are not set to "mute" or "no sound."
- Try a different device: If you have another device, such as a DVD player or gaming console, try connecting it to the TV to see if it is able to display video and sound.
If none of these steps work, you may need to contact a professional technician or the manufacturer for further assistance.
