Korg Cx3 61Key Modeled Combo Organ - Answered Questions & Fixed issues

The analog cx3 uses old school organ technology where a single oscillator for each scale note is divided to put it in the correct octave. Its likley the c# oscillator needs to be replaced. This is a job for a tech rather than being user serviceable.

If this is a flash upgrade to the unit be VERY careful as a failed upload can leave unit dead. They usually have pretty tight checks to prevent an error from killing the unit during the upload. For certain music products I have found that I had to upload an in between version first that was available before uploading the latest current version.

From the user manual troubleshooting:

No sound

• Are the other devices or headphones connected

correctly?

Check the connections. ........................................ (see p.6)

• Is the power of your amp or mixer turned on?

• Is the [MASTER LEVEL] knob raised?

• Is the Global mode Group 4 "MIDI Local" parameter

turned On?

Check the setting of this parameter.

• Are the bars of Drawbar 1 or 2 pulled out?
Pull out some of the bars.

Also check out this site and scroll down and do the "Factory reset" by holding down the buttons they say... AND please note that you have to hold them for a while during this.

This is likely a power supply problem. It is important that all interconnected equipment be powered by the same receptacle OR source or isolation such as DI's be used for system safety.

Do not get confused by weird things that happen when button contacts get dirty... SOMETIMES powering down and back up will create enough of a transient that it will temporarily make defective contacts work. Many an hour has been wasted with this phenomenon. If you can get to one of these failing buttons carefull short the pins of the switch while it is in failed mode and see if it exits the problem. If the buttons HAPPEN to be the conductive rubber type, then clean them with 99% isoprophyl alcohol and Q Tips. Clean the black rubber pill and the circuit board traces they contact.

If you contact Korg, they can send you a dowloadable link to burn the software to a disc.

The buttons are damaged or defective. Replacement may be the only answer.

Might be a case of opening up the M50 as the previous poster did and wiggle connectors and components until the sound is affected. If you have some electronics experience, it should be fairly easy to figure out which board to investigate.
