My Klh r3000 receiver is

If the antenna is in a basement that is the problem - the fact that it is below ground means that no signals can get through.
Radio signals are blocked by buildings, large lumps of metal or other solid objects as well as strong magnetic fields (which can include electrical devices within the home).
To pick up good radio reception you will need an external antenna above the ground level - preferably as high as you can get it. Unless you get an omni-directional antenna like this one http://www.maplin.co.uk/vhf-fm-omnidirectional-aerial-874 you will need to point the antenna accurately at the transmitting station (+ or - about 5 degrees) for FM. At a pinch you might get by with an indoor aerial but it needs to be above ground level (inside a roof would be best)
Good external AM Radio aerials are harder to find these days.

Where do I plug in turntable? There are only

You can use any of the inputs you listed for a turntable, but you'll need a turntable preamp. The output level from the turntable's cartridge is too low on its own, and needs a boost to bring it to the line level those inputs need. The turntable preamp (also called a phono preamp) provides that boost.

Preamps are available from many online sellers, and you may be able to locate one at a retail store in your area. Radio Shack still sells one in some of their stores, and they are often available at musician supply stores or audio shops. It simply installs between the turntable output and receiver input. You'll also need an AC outlet nearby since the preamp needs a power source.

My KLM R3100 receiver simply

Sounds like heat to me.

Generally speaking, an amp protects itself from heat, shorts, overloads and operator exuberance by refusing to turn on or stay on.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Eure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'naked'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.

Check for loose speaker connections as a root cause for intermittent shutdown.

Hitachi sr 2000 right speaker interference and no sound

This should be a relatively simple repair. The outputs for the right side could be out, but more likely, the switches and controls may need a good cleaning. Typically you can expect a labor rate in the $80-$100 range. If the channel is out, the parts cost could be between $15-$40.

If you can indicate your location, I may be able to suggest a shop.

Thanks,
Dan

The reciever volume will not ajust .. It is fixed

Volume controls today are not potentiometers anymore. Manufactures use devices called encoders. When you spin the encoder it sends a binary signal to a decoder chip that will in turn increment or decrement the volume. Either your decoder chip is bad or the encoder itself needs replaced.

Hitachi SR-2000 receiver's right speaker connection does not work

The SR-2000 has fuses for both left and right outputs. Make sure neither are blown. Otherwise this receiver has a STK 463 integrated chip that controls the output for both channels. When replacing the STK-463 it is also acceptable to use STK-465.

Turns off when i turn it up

Does it power back up after it shuts down, if it does power back up it is unlikely it is an internal fuse, you would need to replace the fuse if that was the issue, could be an amplifier overload, check the demand your speakers require in watts, and be sure the right ohm speakers are being used, many receiver will display "overload protection"and shut down, and some just un-power to prevent a electical short from occuring.

Klh home receiver problems

It is not a fuse problem, when a fuse is gone does not start at all.
It is probably the final amp circuit, there is a faulty IC in there that overheats after few seconds and the unit goes off by itself.

Klh reciever

You do not know what you have to replace. You test the component on board, starting from the amp, you need a multimeter and service manual schematic to do this.
After finding faulty component you will need to use solderer and thermal paste to replace it, and you need experience, or you end up damaging the board.
Ave you done anything like this before?

I am going offline now, if you have more queries I can answer tomorrow

thanks

Stereo receiver control problem

Hi,

Your set really needs a repair. There is a pair of bulbs behind the display that burn out.this is the reason why you are not getting the display. If you can see the info when there's light in the room, but there's no light in the display you probably need to change the lamp/LED that lights it. If there's no info at all then i am sad to say that it has to be repaired.

Goodluck..

Setting presets on KLH R3100

No, not so easy, this isn't like your average car radio, unfortunately. This was driving me nuts, too, but I finally found a manual. Hopefully you have a remote, since that is needed.

Once you are on the station you want to save, press MEMORY on the remote. MEMORY will blink on the receiver's display. While MEMORY is flashing, press the button(s) on the remote for the number you want to save the station under.
