Since green is made of blue and yellow, I suspect you need a new yellow toner cartridge.

Greg,
The classic machine gun type sound is usually a seized drum. You can tell which one it is by simple taking out each drum in turn and when you close the lid if there is no click then the drum not in the printer is the offender. The black drum is missing possibly because you have not located the belt correctly. Usually the right blue lock on the belt is actually not locking the belt as the belt is not laying flat. Take the belt out and refit making sure that the projections that the locks sit it are flat to the chassis. Relock and look for the bad drum.

check your paper size setting on your print menu. i had this problem when i set the paper size smaller than the printer is able to handle (3x5 card) ... i just switched to 4x6 and don't have any problems.

After turning ON the
power or when cover
is closed, the sensor
detects that the unit is
missing.
1) Is an Error message displayed?
2) Is the LED head properly
mounted?
3) Does the Error take place
again?
Confirm that the lever is in
position.
Replace the toner feed unit.
Replace the ID units.

create a doccument with four identical lines of text.
the text should be as follows:
your text in the colour Black, the cyan, then yellow then magentta
see if they print in the colours you used, if they are all wrong then delete all drivers associated with the printer and delete the printer, then follow the install proceedure again to reinstall, if just one colour is wrong the it is most likely a deffective cartridge.

unfortunately, a 173 error is a fatal error which requires service, or technical skill on your part. It usually involves replacing the power supply board and fan.
