Hi Eric,First of all, thank you for contacting regarding on your TV problem.I've suspected a convergence chips failure not the power supply board issue in this kind of symptoms. To confirm it, locate the convergence board inside the set, it has a Sanyo convergence chip STK392-110 that are mounted on the large heat sink. This board has a LED (light emitting diode) that will light up once the board gone to malfunction. Turn on the unit and then check if the LED will lit after the shuts down. If yes, then I would advice you to replaced both convergence Chips and check the resistance of the resistors in line with the +25V and -20V supply of the chips.Let me know if the LED at the convergence board does not lit to continue our diagnosis... Check also the LED at the power supply board and on the deflection board(this is where the flyback transformer is located)Have a nice day!Goodluck and take care!Kind Regards,Jdvillanueva

We are having the same problem of the Pioneer Elite Pro-99 turning itself off all of a sudden. The red 'non' power button comes on as if we had turned it off remotely.
We would love to resolve this. If you can help let us know.

1) Unplug wire harnesses = pull chassis ( requires 2 chassis bolt
2) Dis-mount Convergence / power supply board = the one with
large heatsink
3) Locate 5 volt regulators mounted to heatsink
4) Remove old solder from pins of all four regulators =
Re-solder + solder any / all bad conncts on board....
5) Replace bad 4 amp fuse hidden in power supply area...
6) Reassemble

You might have a bad green convergence output IC either loose from the circuit board or open internally OR shorted. Stargazer

Sounds like convergence outputs. Possibly some biasing resistors.

John, im sorry to have to tell you, you have the normal convergence break down, and any adjustment is not going to fix the problem. The Convergence ICs are bad in this set, and both should be replaced at once, as you do not want to pay another repair price 6 months down the road. In these sets there are no user replaceable parts, unless you know how to work on solid state printed circuit boards and understand about the TV safety factors involved. Good Luck Please do not forget to rate this thread.

If you're NOT still under warranty you should at least open the TV and look for a blown fuse near where the power cable enters the set. A lot of times you can buy replacement fuses at a local electronic or hardware store and they're easy to replace. Check the fuse. If it is blown, it will be obvious and make sure that the set is unplugged before replacing it. If it blows again, or if it is not blown, your problem is probably in the 'X' volt regulator and you will need professional help with the repairs. You can also check the board where the components are mounted and resoled any that look bad. Brief power outages may cause the TV to turn off on its own. If you are using a surge protector, try connecting the set directly to the wall outlet. In your case it could caused by a blown fuse, a leaky diodes or a bad solder joint at the horizontal drive transformer. All can be replaced at a local electronic or hardware store and they're easy to replace If this does not correct the problem, you may need to have your TV serviced. good luck!

Good point :>) Connecting it to a computer, may show it as a volume, but that would be all. As I said, you have an issue that no one else has ever put into Google. That means it is very, very rare. Contact Pioneer direct. It will probably have to go to a Service Centre and be connected to dealer software. No updates
