I have a pioneer p5073-k
Greetings!
Most of the intermittent problems in these were caused by instermittent solder connections. Now that it won't come on at all, you may be experiencing a different problem. These were famous for having the regulator for the convergence controller go bad. When they failed they would knock out the 4 amp fuse on the secondary power supply line. The best part is that they, too, would be intermittent, which is to say that you would replace that fuse and the set would be fine. Sometimes for 2 days, other time for two weeks, then the fuse would open again and you ended up replacing the regulators.
With either problem it is not something that I recommend you attempt unless you are an experienced repair tech. These are very easy to create more problems than what you started out with. The up side of all of this is that you have a very high quality RPTV that had a very nice picture for its time. Depending on the fairness of your local TV tech it would be worth repairing: it would be worth at least his diagnostic fee to confirm the problems.
Good luck!
Rob

Pioneer SD-p5073-K Shuts off
it is the power supply board an know problem with pioneer. If you have any soldering experience you can remove the powersupply board and resolder the tracks and as many parts as you can. I had the same problem and not the power supply works great. You will soon have other problems like pic and sound going intermittant where you have to hit the tv to get it back on. more solder problems on video main board. best of luck

TV shuts off seconds after being turned on
This is actually a common problem with this unit and one that Pioneer is aware of...
Over time the feed resistors in the convergence circuit change in value and the convergence ICs begin to fail, placing more of a load on the power supply than necessary and stressing components in the SMPS.
The fix; Pioneer recommends upgrading the convergence IC's from STK392-110 to
STK392-180, change all resistors in the convergence circuit that have changed in value and replace the power supply to repair the unit.

Have you tried to do set the convergence with a pattern on the screen? Some tv's have the pattern built right into the setup. Others do it auto just by pushing a button. Adjusting the pattern on one side of the screen may affect the other side, depending on how far out of whack it is.
Magnets (speakers) near by will play havoc with convergence.

Bottom half/ color separation and distortion of image/top half normal.
Sounds like you need to go into the setup and do convergence. Be careful if you place any speakers or devices that have magnets in them such as a vaccuum cleaner. Even just moving the television can make the convergence go out temporarily. There is a auto circuit that should take care of this if it is moved.
If you have no magnets etc close, then I would check the convergence.

50" Projection TV
your set was going into protective shutdown. Probaly a leaky diode that was raising voltage that triggered the shutdown circuitry.Toshiba has good service info available to trubleshoot the power supply and shutdown circuitry. let me know if you would like me to post a link on where you can get this troubleshooter manual .
