The most common issue on this model is the power board develops all kinds of bad solder connections--have to remove and in most cases hand solder the entire board.
The model indicated here is rear projection that uses three picture tubes. If rear cover is removed--can be done by removing entire front screen but there are hazards like damaging the screen---with rear cover removed clean the lens in the three round cyclinders which point up and are hard to miss===They are the light source for the picture---there is if you look up inside and to the rear a mirror but unless grimy it rarely needs cleaning.clean the lens with a lens cloth or even a paper towel with glass cleaner sprayed on the towel.
you can replace your the convergence chips on the convergence board. The board is to identify because it has a large heat sink. The convergence chips normally starts with STK... After you find the chip, you can buy online (ebay has a lot of listing) and costs around $10. If you know how to solder, it is very easy to do. I just replace the convergence chips on myPRO-610HD and it works perfectly.
Model indicated has ONE VERY COMMON ISSUE:The large power supply board (power cord goes directly to it) develops all kinds of bad solder connections from age.I have seen and repaired a number of these where removal and resoldering of the entire board cures the issues. The bad connections can also take out one or more of the fuses on that board--critical fuses that must be replaced with non-generic fuses.
On these sets if you replace a fuse either you have a short OR the fuse is a generic one------replacement fuses from say Radio Shack will even if correct amperage and voltage blow for no reason-----most of the fuses in these sets are actually thermal or slow blow types. With the set unplugged take a meter and check both sides of the fuse to ground in the set. If the fuse that is blowing at once is the one connected to the power cord it is likely incorrect fuse or generic junk fuse was used to replace it.
It is staying in stand by mode because a usable video signal cannot be found, I would first try changing your cables and possible y even change your video inputs example switch from Componet to HDMI or SVIDEO or visversa.
Hello,
This issue is related to a power problem in as much as the TV turns off on it's own. The problem is actually a power supply board problem. one of it's component is defective. I would suggest you replace the whole power supply board.
The problem is consistent with overheating on the power supply board of the TV.
One, two or more components on the power supply board is defective. It can cause the TV to turn off on it's own.
When current passes from electric outlet to the power supply board of TV. The current also goes to the weak/faulty part, then the current stops or slow and the board overheats and TV shuts off on it's own.
You will be needing a meter and continuity tester in order to read the components on the power board, once you detect any bad component, you can make necessary replacement at any electronics accessories store withing our vicinity. This is the only way by which you can detect the problem. Or you can buy a refurbished complete power board to save you some stress. You can get it from an online store like shopjimmy.com. Note: There may be also some other causes for this symptom, like a defective T con board ,or main board. Of course, testing the power board with a meter will require someone that has the ability. So it you can't, then you might be needing the help of a repairman or you can call a friend that has the ability to help you out. I wish you the best of luck. Regards
I had this problem and called Tweeter for service. A service tech came out and he knew exactly how to fix it. He removed the power supply board, sat in the middle of the living room floor and proceeded to re-solder the back of the board. This guy was phenomenal. That was a couple years ago and I haven't had a problem since.
