I don't know how you got to the update but go to microsoft's site yourself and look for the update. It might be that a malware site is trying to get you to download something that you don't want.

Consider it a blessing!! While there are those who drool over IE, the security concerns do not outweigh the high risks involved. There is no easy way to unload it and reload it. You can also see if there is a newer version and load it on your system. If you are on an older system I would recommend going to Firefox or Chrome for your browser. At least you can uninstall them if needs be.

Check to see if there an been a recent update to your system. A new update to Windows has caused major problems recently. You may have been hit by the update issue. Roll-back your system to the prior update and see if that will solve your problem.

You MAY have a virus, Jeanette. Try running a virus scan, followed by a SpyBot scan, followed by a MalWareBytes scan, possibly even followed by a Kaspersky scan. If none of those work, you'll probably have to go through the process of removing them manually. It may take registry editing.
