Visioneer OneTouch 7100 Flatbed Scanner - Answered Questions & Fixed issues

This is an old, old scanner. There may be some Windows XP drivers out there, but if you have a newer OS, I'm afraid you're out of luck. I'd be almost certain that Windows 8 does not support this scanner.

You may never get it to work unless the scanner manufacturer releases a driver for windows 8. Go to the scanner's web site to see if one is available.

Try typing the model details into google ( or look on your manufacters website )

Alot of blogs find ways to bypass such things.

According to Visioneer themselves no Vista driver has been produced. "7100 TWAIN Driver Only included on the installation CD
Windows XP / 2000 / Me / 98SE
There is no updated driver available."

I scanned by cannon scanner (canoscan D646u ex).Suddently the error message appeared that Release the lock switch, detach the usb cable and reconnect.close the scanner driver. What can I do ?

This could be because your lens is scratched or dirty. The easiest way would be to wipe clean the screen.

Right Click on My Computer/Computer if Vista........ Click on Properties then click on Hardware click on Device Manager...... On that list u will see the Printer Name with an exclamation Mark........ Right Click on that Click on Update Drivers...... Insert the CD to the drive....... Select Browse My Computer for Driver software..... Click on Browse and then Double Click on Computer go to the Dvd Rw Drive select the Driver and Click on Next then after that it will say Driver has been Installed successfully...... Click on Finish...... Good Luck

I just downloaded the XP driver for this scanner from the Visioneer web site. It came with just the driver, as I recall, or you could order the replacement CD for just a shipping charge of under ten bucks. They may have one or two other programs that they supply for download, and they had links to third party vendors who supply the other software on the CD.

I believe that they had a Vista driver for it as well. 

I also downloaded the file--and I believe that it was larger in size than the Visioneer download--from driverscollection.com. I have not yet installed that download to see what the difference might be.

Sounds like the Power Supply has faulted...OR perhaps it is the USB cable try another one if ya can... else sry is Kaput!

It could be the CCD unit going out. It wouldn't hurt to see if there are some new drivers for it:

It's quite possible. Does the scanner connect to the computer via a USB or parallel (old style printer) port?

If the answer is USB, then I believe you might find what you need HERE.

My only reservation is the "P" in the model name you gave. I didn't find any Visioneer scanners w/ a "P" in the model name. However, this one lists drivers going all the way back to Windows 98SE. So, this may very well be the ticket.

Take a look at the picture of the scanner you see at the link I gave you. If it looks right, go ahead and download the manual and take a look at that. If, after viewing the manual, you're convinced it is for your scanner, then go ahead and download the drivers for it and install them on your XP system.

As always, make sure you create a System Restore point b4 making changes to your system like installing or uninstalling software or drivers.
