Pioneer VSX-49TXi Receiver Questions & Answers
Good day, I need your
If you have no sound, you can try the multi channel inputs on the back after switching to the multi chan input. If you have sound that way, you have a DSP problem. I can repair this issue to the component level, as many customers have found, the boards are very expensive, and no longer available. If you're interested in repairing your receiver, please visit my website at audioserviceclinic.com. There you will find the seminar I wrote for Pioneer, when I worked there as a Field Service Engineer, specializing in audio. You can contact me directly from my website. Thanks you.

Sound Just Stopped Working
I have the same problem with my 49txi, and I called pioneer and a repair shop as well. Both told me that the 49txi has a known problem with over heating and that its boards unsolder themselves. I would have thought Pioneer would stand behind something this expensive, but that was the old Pioneer in the 80s, and the new Pioneer says we are on our own.

Improper equalizer between VSX-49TXi and LD player,no sound now
Hello,
You may want to buy the service manual (SM) from Pioneer for this unit. It has a lot of info on resetting and testing the receiver under the "Test Mode". It is highly improbable that you could ruin the firmware by connecting the receiver in an unusual way. You may just need to reset it to factory specs. Another option if you bought it from a local Pioneer dealer is for them to reset. It usually involves getting into the secret menu to do so.
I had one of these for a short while and they are quite nice receiver.
Good luck

How to reset a pioneer vsx 456 receiver
To reset your Pioneer VSX-456 receiver, you can try the following steps:
Turn off the receiver.
Press and hold the "Enter" button and the "On/Standby" button simultaneously until "Reset" and "No" appears on your display.
Use the "Preset" arrow buttons to make the display say "Reset" and "Yes" .
Press the "Enter" button on the front panel to confirm .
If this does not work, you can also try unplugging all external devices before beginning the system reset. Switch the receiver into standby mode by holding down "Band" and then pressing and holding the "Standby/On" button for about two seconds. When you see "Reset?" on the display, press the "Preset" arrow buttons to make it say "Yes." Finally, press the "Enter" button on the front panel to confirm .
