Technics SUV500 2-Channel Amplifier - Page 5 Questions & Answers
My amplifier puts about 36volt dc at the speaker
This is not a good thing. The DC current will cause the speaker ciols to heat up just like the element in a toaster. This unit requires repair. Either the outputs are shorted or the driver circuit has a problem.
DO NOT hook this up to speakers as the speakers will be damaged.

TECHNICS SUPER BASS, DOUBLE BASS AND TRIPLE AMPLIFIER
Have you checked all circuit boards for good solder connections.
Also if the boards had been wet from anything, you might clean the boards and resolder all connections specially in the power supply and audio section.
Let me know.
TRANSFORMER BLOWN
Hi
Most transformers have a thermal fuse fitted, this can be bypassed/replaced to get the amp working again. Are you up to having a go at fixing it?

Romote control code
You could try automatic code seach if the new remote has that feature, many universal remotes have that option, if not try these 122 176 193 219 178 177 200 257 262 Hope one of these works for you.
Technics SU-V98 No Sound
If I understand your posting correctly, the amp works using the Aux In connectors but not using the VCR1 even when VCR1 is selected correct? If that is the case, there is an internal electronic switching IC (TA9263 I think) that may be defective. This is not a complex repair and can be confirmed easily by any shop that does audio repair. They will trace the incoming signal with an oscilloscope to the IC and see nothing come out when VCR1 is selected. The IC costs less than $10.

No sound from one of the two speakers on my su500.
I i remember correctly these amplifiers use their own brand power chips,if one channel is down normally that chip has blown, chances are small of getting replacement,st bet is to source faulty one on ebay and swop a good chip
Technics SU-V460 Amp Problems
Hi There, you need to eliminate all the connection and surplus items around the SUV-460 amplifier to determine if its the amp or not..
That is disconnect every thing then connect just the speakers and an input to the amp like a CD player or radio input. Then see if the amplifier plays OK thru the speakers on both channels and the balance control works fine....If it doesnt then the fault is inside the SUV-460 but if it all works fine than start reconnecting theemixer panel carefully and recheck all your cables and connections. Its a process of elimination to determine if its a "Box" fault or a cable fault...
Cheers From YUBEUT
I can barely hear output even when the volume is at 100%
You may have the tape monitor button pushed in or if you look on the back of the unit you may find a pre-out/main-in set of rca jacks. If you don't have a switch to bypass those jacks then you will need to use a set of 2 RCA jumper cables or some stubs made for that purpose. Hope this helps.

Technics amplifier 101 (I think)

This series of amps made quite a splash when they came out. Worth putting some funds and effort into getting going again at least. The on/off nature of your problem tends to point towards dry solder joints in and about the output/power regulation stages causing the amp to go into protection mode.
If you have decent soldering iron skills, remove the covers and go about blanker re-soldering any areas that have cracked or crystalline solder joints. Especially if the PCB has browned, good indicator of heat. If you are not much of a gun with the iron, try around your mates. This sort of repair would normally not cost you a lot of money.

SU-V460 cuts out at high volumes
Hi samipoyo
You need to check the amp for dry solder joints about the output stages. These amps are notorious for soldering going bad. I would set about re-soldering the entire output stage.

Technics SUV500 problem in stand-by
The problem is not the relay. The unit is trying to start, but detecting a problem and shuting down again. Check the output transistors for a shorted condition.

Cuts out
Check your speakers. your speaker may be defective
Problem with power
if it is instant off and does not initialized, you better check your output amp. you may have a defective power amp stage.
Technics RS-BX501 cassette deck door won't open
If you feel confident doing so, you could attempt to open the cassette deck and physically examine the gears to check for damage or debris that might be obstructing them.
But do remember that there are risks involved when opening electronic equipment, especially if you're not used with doing this kind of work. If you're not sure you can do this securely, it would be preferable to get assistance from a qualified audio equipment repair specialist.
