RIAA preamp

Just plug the turntable into your phone inputs. If there is next to no volume then you need a preamp because you have a magnetic (low output) cartridge. If you have a piezo type cartridge the output should be enough to drive the amplifier to rated output. Of your unit does not have a phono input I can tell you that it definitely does not have a preamp built in.

I moved and cannot find

The Technics SA-DX940 is made by Panasonic. The manua as a PDF is available here: http://service.us.panasonic.com/OPERMANPDF/SADX940.PDF . The directions for connecting the speakers start on page 14. The connection to the TV is on page 10. To use the SA-DX940 as just external speakers for your TV, connect either the digital audio out from the TV (if it has one) or the RCA audio out from the TV to the matching TV audio in on the SA-DX940.

I hope this helps.

Unit turns on but has no output

Have you looked at the manual and understood every setting that could silence it?

NEVER USE MAXIMUM VOLUME FOR TROUBLESHOOTING.

Turn the volume control to something medium.

The errant switch, control or condition may change and you will suddenly release the amp's full power and possibly destroying your speakers. If a signal isn't audible at 1/2 volume it's probably not there.

Carefully examine the front panel for clues like a misplaced Mute or Tape Monitor control or Multichannel Analog Input selected.

There is a good chance that a common control may have developed a high-resistance or 'dead' spot through defect or idleness and is causing your symptom. Turn the POWER OFF and operate every control throughout its range a number of times, especially rarely-used ones like Tape Monitors and the Mute control.

Turn the volume to something reasonable and see if that helped.

I have a Technics model.

Depending on the "overloading sensor" you may get an overload alarm from:
Too much input audio signal,
Distorted input audio signal,
Low power supply voltage (lower that the nomimal),
Changes at the internal dc power supply (due to high consumption at high audio levels)
and many many more....
At these high audio levels (you mentioned for 3/4 full power, your amp has a nominal 100W/8? per channel) I don't think that these kind of problems are easy noticeable, unless you use your amplifier for something like PA System. Anyway if you can give me more details (including audio source you use, number of speakers e.t.c.) about your problem I'll try to guide you eliminate (as much as possible) this problem.

In case of a problem or clarification or further details needed, don't hesitate to post me a reply before rejecting my answer.
If you are satisfied, accept my solution.

Thanks and regards

How do i hook up

Connect the Technics front Left and Right speaker out to the Optimus Left / Right IN. And what ever speakers you were connecting to the Technics front Left and Right connect it to the Optmus Left / Right Out. This is called a loop through connection. Just make sure the Amplifier red is connected to the sub woofer red and the Amplifier black is connected to sub woofer black - i.e No mixup on the colors.

Right speaker does not work on both A and B

Before doing anything else swap the speaker connections over to make sure that the problem is in the amp and not the speaker / speaker cable.
If that doesn't solve it then it is most likely an internal fuse blown on the amplifier circuit board - they are little tiny glass ones, obtainable from most tv repair shops, but it is important to get the right power rating. Also some of these fuses are 'quick blow' (go instantly there is a fault) others are 'slow' or 'time' blow - take a second or two before they actually blow - make sure you get the right one (timed usually have the letter T next to the power rating)

Technics Sa-dx930 receiver. Suddenly sound stopped, came

yes' - there are two fuses that are on the circuit board. remove the unit case and locate the fuses -- they will be near the internal amplifier. if it turns out that the fuses are good - then the problem could be the volume resistor plates or a bad amplifier. it might be worth taking the unit into your local stereo repair shop and have them take a look at it,, it could just be a bad resistor or diode on the circuit board and that is very cheap to fix.

I have a technics sa-dx930 receiver and want to

It would help to know some details about tour TV - like its make and model. Or do you mean the CABLE BOX?

And there are TWO signals to consider - audio and video. WHICH is the one you need to hook up without involving the dvd/vcr?

Let's start with basics:

1) TV's are not audio sources. They are end-units for video and its medium-fi audio.

A TV's internal audio capacity is more a convenience for stand-alone listening than a serious approach at hi-end audio. Many of us have monitors with NO audio capability.

TV-related audio and video are best VIEWED via direct video connection to the TV; and HEARD through direct digital audio connection to the receiver.

2) The one NECESSARY connection you need from the receiver to the TV is the basic VIDEO that let's the receiver communicate with you through the TV.

Yes, if it only has speaker-level inputs it would require an amplifier to properly drive it. Name the sub and maybe we can answer the second question.

Hi a have too same problems vhen i start reciever,

There is an internal "timer" circuit that controls the delay of the output relay. The capacitor in this circuit may be defective. Since it is part of an RC circuit, poor solder connections can effect this as well. Look closely at the board for any solder connections that appear grainy or have rings and resolder them. That may resolve the problem. If not, please update this with your findings and I will look up the service manual for this and list the probable defective components in the delay circuit.

Hey, I own one of these systems. Whenever I touch two of the wires together (shorting it out) the system shuts down and overload appears on the display. My suggestion is too check your wiring (especially in the spliced areas) or replace the wiring to the outside speakers and try it again. If you dont want to try that, take the wires you have hooked to the A speakers and see if they will work on the B setting (a quick troubleshooting technique). Please let me know if it worked for you. Good Luck!

Reciver overload

More than likely, it's not a problem with the receiver. The fastest way to tell is to disconnect all speakers at the back of the receiver and turn it on. If it does not shut down, your receiver is ok and is just protecting itself from damage. If it stays on, check all your wiring, what it sounds like is that you have one or two braids of wire touching the other terminal. Not enough to cause a "short" at turn on, however, when you turn up the volume the resistance increases and creates a short, thus "overload" shows on the receiver. Hope this helps. If you need more help troubleshooting, post a comment and I can help more.
