Night Owl Optics Cyclops Compact NOCC3 Monocular Questions & Answers
Cannot see thru optics. ifr comes on but still
Hello, so the image intensifier tube light up. Shake it and listen for parts raddle around inside.
How long have you own this Night Owl? Have you been using night vision on bright lights?
If you have the intensifier tube is gone back to the Red Star....it died! The IR operates on a different switch than the controler, ccfl inverter, multiplier, image tube. Sorry. stewbison
There is good bet that I have a tube for this, but it not worth sending to me. Also, maybe it not the image intensifier tube but something else in the electronic.............Made in Russia--Red Star
Batterys corroded clean up contacts now unit does
Jenko, How bad was the clean up of the battery contacts, lot of corrosion? Now
it possible to have broken wire to the battery compartment.
If you are mechanical inclined and have some experience with electronic. Here
what you do. Remove the front lens. There will be four screws on a concentric
ring. Remove the screw and the ring. This unit comes apart in the approx middle.
Also, from the front end look for a white Teflon ring with one screw it goes
around the image intensifier tube. Remove the screw this will allow the image
tube to ability it to move back along with the rest of back frame Be careful
here all the wire are white Teflon coated ,all the same color. These wires are
HV, and are rated at 2KV with small current. There's a battery tube on the
upper right of the back housing. Lots of wire that go to the two switches. Take
a pick and gently remove some of the rubber trim cement that was used. The only
wire to be concerned about is the ground wire. The positive wire you can see
from the back of the back frame housing. There is a aluminum ring that is
threaded for the battery cap. Now there is slot cut into the battery tub just
under the aluminum threaded ring, you can see the wire. This is the positive
wire.
If you don't have the room, remove the plastic cover over the on/off and IR
witch cover. There will be six little screws under the plastic cover, remove the
screw and the back plastic switching component can be remove the from inside.
Make sure all the cement has bee remove.
It is really critical here. take some wire indicators tags. make a picture of
the printed circuit board and every where a wire is attached put a tag on the
wire and mark the location on the your diagram where that one with its tag is
locked. Your are going to find that there are many ground wires to different
shielding plates. I can't says it enough, mark those wire and its location on
the printed circuit boards
If you need to remove the green image intensifier tube. There a wire teflon
cap and cover that goes the voltage multiplier around the image tube. Just
gently pull down the white cap, and turn it inside out. Take small pick and
remove dielectric jell from inside the cathode. One the jell is removed, then
gently pull on the white wire and it will pull out about 3/8 of inch. The
voltage multi-
plier ignitor wire is solder to the cathode wire, desolder it. All components
then can be laid out.
Check for broken wires. send me another message and I will tell you
components to check and how to fire the cathode ignitor. stewbison.
Hello, Thank you for your help. My product turns
Hello, This is a typical problem with these Russian manufactured NV monocular. Without disassembling the unit and doing some basic trouble shooting on the circuits. NV monocular I have work on. The problem seems to be 1st generation image tube goes south in one fast stroke.
If you can find someone to work on this NV monocular. Only thing need is know that the cathode of the image intensifier tube operates at 15KV switch dc which are 90 degrees out of phase. In other words, it just AC voltage. The tube will have operating current at 12ma to 10ma.
Also, I can't use this forum for drumming up bussiness. I am retired and my experience go back to 1965 work on PVS2 and others. stewbison
Hiya i cannot get my
Why do you need to hold the on/off button for 5 sec.? This a Night Owl Cyclops monocular that is manufactured in Russia. There could be a number of thing wrong with, such as; bad image tube, faulty ccfl inverter, toloid coil has shorted, voltage multiplier has goin to kaput heaven, broken wire/wires. Many thing can go wrong. Viewing bright incondesnce light, the sun and anything the admittes visiably light. This will destroy the image tube. stewbison

Hello, is the IR glowing red, don't look into the IR lens. Just place your hand in front of it and see the is a red glare on your had. If there is a red glare then IR is work.
Another thing when you taking a look see through the Night owl NV monocular there should be a green glow from the image intensifier tube, if not, then the NV monucular isn't working properly. stewbison
My cyclop-1 won't turn on
Hello, welcome to the world of Russian night vision devises. About 85% of the problems these NV stuff that is manufactures in the EX-Soviet-Union is the image intensifier tube which is the major component in these devises. It cost prohibitive to have it fixed, especially by Night Owl. They will charge you $100+ plus shipping both ways and parts. Sell it on eBay for NV monocular as parts.
or you can throw it a way. Sorry, GB...stewbison
My night vision scope will not turn on. My LEDs
Hello, Welcome to the world of Russian night vision system. That is right, Night Owl Optics Cyclops NOCC3 is manufactured in Russian. The biggest problem with these monocular and binoculars and even scope is that they use cheap 1st generation Russian image tubes and everything else. It would be cost prohibitive to have it fixed, that is, if Night Owl Optics will fix it for you. Hint: Auction it on Ebay as night vision parts. Sorry, GB...stewbison
It turns on but when you look thru the lens it is
Hello, These Russian manufactured night vision devises are cheap. The image intensifier tube has gone south, it finny, flip out, dead. Because these night vision defisve are sold by many different US companies they don't have parts for them. You buy it, and when goes, you throw it away. Sent to me for recycling, there really not much to recycle. Sorry, GB...stewbison

dont power this up in full day light or you will burn out the ccd pick up if you cant see anything through it i gess the tude has burnt out
